I'm helplessly needless, and needless to say I owe you | Well I'd pull, teeter away, at the earth with my teeth, to touch your face alive | You lie, helplessly still | As your face falls apart | Well I can make your face brand new | Come take my hand and I'll take your hand | And I will pull you out | Into the sun.

Not sure if you can, but try to find Zen cards to purchase? Maybe they still hold the conversion rate.Dreams are just dreams...

It's just the currency conversion and for Europeans some kind of VAT tax/fee or something. Im canadian so I don't get a gold for a dollar either. Mind you the difference isn't as much as $1.31 per gold but a purchase of 50 gold is like $56 CAD for me.0

There was a law passed in Europe earlier this year that placed regulations for all businesses that have operations within the European Union that has forced this change. Companies were given a certain amount of time to comply to these new regulations and that time is now.
Prior to the change, Perfect World Entertainment was paying the VAT taxes for all of our European players and when this law was passed, we explained to the European officials that our company was paying this additional fee for our users so that they can continue to pay in United States Dollars and we were informed that we were no longer allowed to do so. That information came straight from the people in charge of these new regulations for Europe. Perfect World Entertainment was then forced to abide by these new regulations and we were forced to make the change you now see.
If you are playing from Europe, you are no longer allowed to pay in United States Dollars which is why you no longer see that option. This has absolutely nothing to do with greed or wanting more money or any other negative connotation that has been thrown out there in regards to the change. We as a company are simply complying to the new laws put in place in order for our company to continue operations in you local region. Had we not complied to these new regulations, we would have to just pull out of operations in those areas and no longer provide service to those regions.
So lets put this into perspective...
If you're not a person residing in the US itself you will pay more for gold.
TODAY:
I pay
$ 73.55 for 60.42 gold
US residents only pay
$ 50.00 for 64.42 gold
As a para-legal who works daily with corporate and financial litigation, I find the above reasoning distasteful and resent the implication that this is simply the way it will be regardless of what the consumers think. The consumer base feels ripped off in that they are getting the bad end of a business transaction. Many players do not understand the legal ramifications of international service providers, nor do they care, nor should they care in all fairness.
If your players feel like you're ripping them off... do something about it!
It has little to do with complying with regional laws and more to do with PWE/Arcgames' bad business model.
I've spent a few hrs pouring through posts from 2011 (I've been away from PWI for a long time). And it seems the consumer base has made more reasonable attempts at mitigating additional costs than any responses from the company itself.
A little more work on the figures and PWE/Arcgames could easily have equality across the board.
PS: I'm South African not European
PPS: This reply is not intended to disrespect any answers stemming from forum mods or GMs i.r.o the quote, they do not make the financial decisions so as much as merely iterate them.0
