You didn't include meridian, title quests, passives etc. That's why it isn't right i'd say. the 56% extra magic and physical def on passives makes a diff, cards make a diff too.

    Oh I'm sorry, I wasn't clear.
What do you think of that sharding and orni set up?

Assuming you can't get Jades due to price and don't want to go Diety.... should go for vit stones instead with an elemental neck. Much greater HP and magic defense. You do lose a slight bit of phys defense, but that's mostly because NW cube necks have double phys/mag defense boosts unlike how the G13-G15 ones had a bit of both defenses to cover for whatever type they were.

If you already have the neck and those engraves, though, then fair enough on the choice to keep it. With vit stones you'd still only be losing about 300 mdef compared to all those sapphires but would gain about ~2k pdef and, of course, the large HP boost.

I was looking at this as an option due to the fact vit stones are 100 mill ish on my server and saph gems are 20-25 mill ish
I have also had people advise against vit stones because of zerk, I don't know

comes down to ~2.7k hp and 1400 Mdef with a cost of about 2.3 bill vs 1300 Pdef with a cost of about 475 mill

Budget build, eh? Fair enough, then. You'll eventually want to upgrade but overall you can work with that.

The zerk thing is just people being uninformed, stupid, or both. You're losing 5% of your HP either way. Better to have more HP to draw from and have more HP left after the zerk. Especially as their argument is like saying "don't refine your armors because zerk!". Losing 1k HP when you have 20k still leaves you with 19k HP while losing 500 HP when you're at only 10k leaves you at 9.5k HP. Doesn't take a genius to figure out which of the two is in a better position even though they've both lost 5% HP.

If you can't afford vita gems, Citrine Gem is the next best option down the line overall.

Asterelle made this here fancy calculator for figuring out the best shards for yourself.

If I was a tad bit more idealistic, I'd believe that the argument against vita gems amounts to "without them your zerk hits will deal enough damage to deal back the HP loss", which would actually be a valid point.

But really, that's only applicable once you have enough base HP to survive in the first place. Not to mention that a highly refined weapon is going to zerk for far more than 5% of your maximum HP anyway.

That calculator says I have greater overall survivability with mdef neck and no sharding compared to pdef neck and full Saph gem sharding despite the fact the second has higher defenses? >.<
Maybe I am just challenged at using the calc b:surrender
