I have the genie you get on that first quest and really haven't seen a point to her besides that she looks cute. I've seen other people with different types of genies too. I've read the genie guide but just don't understand that the point of them are. Can the one I have even help me in battle if I upgrade its attributes? I have the Disipline genie I think?

It can help you by, among other things, depending on the skills you teach it:
    • Making you move faster
    • increasing your resistance to, or making you immune to, certain types of, or all, attacks
    • healing you
    • increasing damage taken by enemies from physical or all attacks

I had the same feeling when i just started playing. In the beginning you have a **** genie, that cant learn much and just sucks up exp/spirit if you want it to stay up to level with you. I dont think you should do that. Just let it level in its own slow pace and when the time is ripe, youll get a good one that is worth putting some effort in.

Buying genies doesnt really help a lot until you are level 100 because most of the genies you buy are level 100 and thus cant be used by a lower level player. As soon as you are level 100 however, i would advise you to buy a genie with 60-70 luckpoints. These cost only 1 or 1,5 mil. (which depending on your level may sound like a lot, but it wont be much when you are level 100)

Until then, as said, just start by learning holy path on it.
Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.
