Is leveling still a grindy, soul-sucking experience?

I got to lvl 41 quite a while ago (like 2011 I believe) and then just stopped because leveling became so slow and painful that the game was no longer fun to me.
I'm wondering if it's any easier now? If it's less of a painful experience maybe (I seriously have respect for players who are lvl 100+ because I honestly don't know how they did it without banging their heads on a wall).

^ This, as matter of fact its been easy for a very long time now, if you know what your doing, and have enough patience, you can get to 100, with quite a bit of ease. (Though it really does help with the right people 'behind'/with you.)Ah, Mistakes are so easily made. ~ laura resnick

At least the forums are way friendlier than what world chat suggests of the community lol0 -

You don't need to be skilled or have people to get to 100+ now. Money is an easy substitute for that. Not even a lot of it either. It really isn't hard at all to reach 100+ nowadays. Now, on the other hand if you want to actually enjoy the game, which I assume you do. I recommend finding a good faction, leveling a bit slowly until you get the hang of things again, and learning how to make coin here. There are still plenty of fun things to do here, especially at level 100. The quests have been revamped to give way more exp in the past. And don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses. If PvP is your thing, I really recommend learning to merchant.0 -

It only gets soul sucking post 100.
Now you can get to lvl 105 3 times. Thats about a year long 7 PV runs daily...Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -

And that's why we already have multiple 105/105/105 characters, right? Plenty of whom, admittedly, could have made it there faster but weren't really trying their hardest. b:laugh
Leveling is easy as cake in this game as long as you know what you're doing or are at least willing to dedicate some time to it. That or have money. Money makes it easy as well.(Insert fancy image here)0 -

"Knowing what your doing" is more than just skills, so aye with the right 'plan"... and even skills you can indeed get to 100 fairly easy.Ah, Mistakes are so easily made. ~ laura resnick

Yeah, Harshlands wc is pretty bad sometimes, has been as long as I can remember; the names of the offenders change from time to time, but the trash they talk stays the same.
If you're looking for friendly players... (I'm gonna get flamed for this, but...) maybe you should look at a pve server instead...0 -

I meant skilled as in proficient/talented, not as in the little stuff we cast with the icons to attack, debuff, etc.

PWE was my first MMO so I didn't even know what PvP was at the time or I would have most likely chosen the PvE server since I lost a really expensive flying mount due to someone ganking me (my name wasn't red either... I always thought items only dropped if your name was red).
IF that's the case you might like the Dreamweaver server, assuming you're on the east coast.0 -

Make a new thread in technical support with the information from the "Before you post" thread taken into consideration. Most likely someone there can help you out.0 -
how do you get so much faster then O.o ?
1 day of PV is a little over 30m.
100-105 = almost 4000m exp.
makes 3 months per 105
Hmm, shroud thingy can cut it in half i guess. Hard enough to find 7 openers though, not going to do shroud quests so that i can try and open 14 timesEverything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -
You can use alts to open without concern, there's also other methods of gaining EXP besides PV.
Sure if the only thing you did was log on, run 7 PVs, and log off you'd have a point but... there's a lot more you can do than just PV to level.
Consider New Horizons was released December 18th... and just a bit over a month later we had http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1667341 showing someone with 105/105/101. Another month later, http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1674581 happens and they person's triple maxed.
You can check the second topic for his method if you'd like. Overall it's really not that difficult as long as you're willing to put in the effort. Even being lazy about it, you still won't take a year unless you literally do only the PV runs and then log off.(Insert fancy image here)0 -

I wasn't limiting it to anything specifically when I said that bit about knowing what your doing.
Even the smartest person on this planet needs something, or someone to ignite that 'brilliant' idea that could save the world, or in this case, leveling up to 100 really fast.
There really is a lot to 'knowing what you're doing' it could be as you mentioned 'skills' whether it be the built in skills given to us, or the.... skills of the person behind the character, there is a lot more to it than just that as well. As you mentioned youself, money can do it as well, but I really think that has to do with the right 'plan'/'skills' of the person behind the character... or in other words someone who 'knows what they're doing.' (Even if they can make money easier, or just swipe a credit card for cash in game, they still need to have a plan... or know what they're doing to take advantage of that extra cash to level up quickly.)
There is a lot of intangibles to that phrase, it's why I didn't go into too much depth about it, it would be easy to miss a way to go about it, or even get into an... argument/disagreement, or even a friendly discussion about the... effectiveness of a... method.Ah, Mistakes are so easily made. ~ laura resnick

Meh, might be just me but I'm cool with taking it slower. I despise FC and don't really like grinding PV either (if that instance was meant to be ran more then once per day by players, the devs wouldn't have put it at a once per day basis, so folk buying up those PV runs should be banned imho).
I'm at first rebirth, 102/101 on my cler. XPwise I have the following daily XP gainers:
- Sign in. Duh.
- BH1/2
- Morai (often overlooked, but that's a mil for under half an hour of play)
- (Morai) Crazy stone. Expensive? Not if you keep stacks of them average gems during autoculti in inventory.
- Primal dailies (4 of them at first rebirth).
- Cube of Fate. Go for the XP reward and that's a mil right there, plus PoF. Running 50-60 for the coin is optional.
- Base quest. Another 500K XP for almost no time at all.
- Autoculti overnight and when I go to work. Results vary, but usually another good 5M XP there.
All in all it adds up to some 10M per day, which is enough for me. I'll probably slow down a bit in favor of FWS runs for badges and a few molds. Leveling is one thing, but you need to gear up as well...I'm so P.R.O... I Press Respawn Often.

- PV = 120m / hour
- FC = 20m / hour
- Cube/AEU/morai etc.. all < 5m/hour.
lvl 100-105 = 4000m
So that makes:- 33 hours PV
- 200 hours FC
- 1000+ hours other ****.
And with a lvl 100-105 being worth 56 stat points = 5.6 vit stones = about 400million that makes only PV really worth your time.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0 -
'Xept PV gives you nothing whatsoever itemwise. And not every toon on the server can solo that instance. And on top of that you have to add hypers for true efficiency, which can become a problem if you plan to autoculti most of the day afterward.
- Morai quests give you 40 influence daily. Can be converted into exp, rep or other items.
- Cube gives pages.
- BH gives bueno rewards of all kinds. But with my luck, usually chips...
- Primal gives bloods and vitae. If you're not end level at last reborn and with full mirage sky, definately a plus to do.
- Base quest gives faction contrib. You can take a few small quest from the training obelisk and grind those as well (at a moment convenient for you). The XP for those isn't half bad either.
But yea, if you're going for -pure- XP, PV is your best bet. I just don't see the fun in that...I'm so P.R.O... I Press Respawn Often.

Took me a month and a half to hit 105 the second time doing 7 PVs a day. For the third time I stopped doing PVs at 103 and now I'm halfway to 104 just from AFK botting (gives like 15m xp a day).
to the OP this person here has spent tons on the toon that he/she has,r9 recast to the 3rd power and prob some +12 weapon, armors and other **** to do 7 PV a day.Plus u need to have openers so he/she either pays people to open or she logs 6 other alts on at one time.
anywys PW should just have everyone start out at 99 so people can just complain about gears.0 -

Different classes require different "gear levels" to solo PV. I'm fairly sure Seekers with a good weapon and Bloodpaint can do it with a decently refined Nirvana gear for example. I never tried this myself (don't have a seeker) but I remember one of my friends used to solo her PV before she got R9rr. I don't deny that you generally need good gears though.
Also, it doesn't have to be 7 runs, I think an average of 5 is decent enough if you can't handle more (aka having to stop at groups instead of pulling everything to the end). Duo-ing PV is also an option. It still gives decent EXP and the two classes can work together.
Leaving PV aside, there are a lot of dailies available now and all of them give decent EXP. Even if you don't PV, you'll eventually accumulate EXP and level up. I got to 103 the first time just by doing dailies until a friend convinced me to go all the way and thus I took the leveling more seriously.
And then there's the AFK botting available now...some classes like Clerics put on a good macro can bot without the need of auto-recovery stones.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]
