Weapon damage calculation?

Since there is undoubtedly someone out there who knows this or has tried this - how is the damage to weapons from use calculated? Level of mob hit? Does your toon's phys def mitigate some of the damage taken by the weapon when you hit someone with it?
Since we are all at some point using autoculti to grind (and the limiting factor for my melee toon is how long before my weapon wears out) I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to "fortify" my weapon to last longer, or make a set of gear that increase my phys damage resistance to make my wep last longer.
If they would only allow you to autoculti without a weapon (since at least several classes can still auto-attack or use some skills without a weapon equipped) this wouldn't be an issue.

\\who is good for *maybe* 3 hours before his wep breaks and I have to repair and go back out again

Every time you hit something there is a chance of losing 1 durability on your weapon. Slower, harder hitting weapons (ie r8 daggers instead of nv1 or r9(2-3) instead of nv3int) will need to hit less and therefore last longer. Similarly, better refines, shards will improve a weapons longevity for the same reasons. When it comes to long auto culti sessions, a high aps is typically not your friend. If all you have is aps gear, try using chill of the deep and see if that helps.0

1 Durability = 50 attacks

Is that a constant, unaffected by any other armor stats?
I understand high refines allow you to kill faster/with fewer hits, resulting in less damage. Just wanted to know what I could do to stretch my damage loss.JePoY - Lost City wrote: »i dont know bout sin weapon calculation. but in archer for 9 to 12 hrs auto culti it cost me only 75k to 125k
I wasn't worried about cost as much as sheer *time* - I put this toon in autoculti and turn off the monitor. I'm only limited by my inventory space and weapon durability.0 -

I personally start autoculti with Chill of the Deep on.
You can put Chill of the Deep to rebuff along with bloodpaint every 20 or 30 minutes (supposing you're an assassin (You'd have chill of the deep on for 1/3 of the time thus increasing slightly the duration of your auto-culti), Having a +10~+12 weapon also helps a lot, if you have a DPH gear like G16 or R9R3 it would take even longer to deplete weapon durability. (But if you're aps sin, its not worth to make a DPH gears just for autocultivation, too low cost benefit in that purpose)[S.E.V.C.H.E.N.K.O]

I'll give that a try. The toon I grind with has a r8 wep - I'll see if I can squeeze another level or 2 of refine onto it.
Thanks for all the replies.0
