arc issues

ok reposting this tried to post earlier but cant seem to find it i have issues w downloading arc the last time i tried it on my desktop it caused my computer to crash. hence i am not happy to find that the msg of you have to install arc show up when i try to log into game. when the computer crashed the techs told me the last thing downloaded was what caused it to crash ans that was arc. so if there is a way too use the element client with out arc that would be great. I just dont want to risk having to replace my computer one crash like that was more expensive than i can afford
