I'm getting to 100 on my psy and looking at either nv3 or r8r .
I noticed that r8r gives total of 2700 hp and 15 attack. Yet only penalizes you 50 base points compared to NV3.
I'm wondering if any others have thoughts?
I doubt I'll be able to afford r9 b:surrender

If it's not r9rr, it's really not end-game.
g16 Nirv though so you can at least sell and/or use it on an alt later whenever you do get r9rr.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'd go with NV3 so you can stash it across more accounts, the set bonuses are nice to have as well. In saying that, I do know of a few people who R8r the weapon for the Purify proc, just to pull things like Lunar. I also hear the Proc rate on R8r is unbearably low.My squishiness is (Usually) unrivaled.

The R8r is customizable. Most people really do not see the potential it has end game, and therefore they do not consider it end game gear (with the only exception being the R8r weapon). It is possible to get stats/effects that even R9rr simply does not allow. A little research is needed to see what exactly.
T3 Nirvy gives +900 hps on 2 piece bonus... +15 def level (i believe on 5 piece bonus)... +20 atk lvls (i believe on 6 piece bonus) and you already have the helm and cloak slots filled this way. This can be account stashed and thus, on alts.
The T3 Nirvy is considered the poor peoples choice compared to R9rr. It has what it has stats-wise. Because end game is all about pvp which mainly comes down to attack vs defense levels, this is viewed by most as the only other option if not R9rr, because of the +15 def lvls it gives.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I doubt you have looked at all factors. I havent checked the psy stuff, but generally the difference between r8r and G16 is rather significant. Most notably the attack and defence levels.Everything i write is from PvE perspective unless mentioned otherwise.0

G16:
1. Higher refine rate
2. Higher base
3. MUCH higher mag adds (~+110 mag from full set with 10+ mag on all rolls, and of course you restat 10 str from cape to 10 mag)
4. Stashable
5. Still lets you use R8r wep for def levels
R8r:
1. Pretty
2. Guaranteed 4 sockets allow for fantastically fabulous rainbow sharding

The advantage of r8r is mainly for those who aim for specific adds that G16 lacks. As far as I recall, r8r doesn't have specific options that are really worth it for psychics. For some classes it is, but not as much for psychic. On top of that, psychic is not worth the double weapon choice like for some classes because of soulforce. Going r8r for purify proc isn't really worth it either. You need high survivability to have real benefit from that (and you said you're on a budget).
G16 is just the easy mainstream. It's very decent even compared to r9.3, only the usual difference in refinement/shards/war avatars makes it look a lot weaker. If you're not sure, just go G16. R8r is for ppl with some specific idea in mind, or that are lazy (r8r is a lot easier to make without need of molds).0
