How much has changed since 2010ish?

Hey all, I am returning from about a 4 year break. I remember when I used to play this game when I was burnt out on WoW. My highest level was 20 (pretty sad), although I wasn't mad and I actually enjoyed the starting areas of each race. I remember the UI was fluid and it wasn't too confusing to get into. Although, I tried it the other day and I was totally confused. It seems like a lot has changed. I was thinking of actually trying to get to a decent level, but now I am not so sure. Can somebody please explain what has changed? Also, I remember the game being pretty p2w (pay to win), is it still like this? Lastly, is the endgame more PvE or PvP?

    If you think of this as a whole new game, mentally it would be easier for you.
    That way if something does connect from the past, you can think of your situation as the glass half full (extra knowledge compared to full newbies) than it being half empty >.>

    altho some pple are rushing to get to 100+ endgame, alot of pple welcome new blood so your better off pretending the noob :D

    I guess you can still enjoy the game, but if you wanna be the "best" player and don't wanna spend a lot money... That can't be really possible... Depending on what you wanna do, PvP or PvE... PvE is easy now and a good way to make money is with Jolly Old Jones... You have to be between lvl 21-80 to get money with Jolly Old Jones and do easy quest from him 7 times/day. You just have to go see a Jolly Old Jones and take the quest "Daily Bounty Order".
    Because you know all need money to get geared etc so you are better to take that quest every day!!

    Yeah maybe in another five years you could afford some wrist for your epic left behind lvl 99.

    4years away! yeah this game has changed a fair bit over the 5 years, news races, new instances, new gear etc etc way too much to list I think, you are pretty much looking at a different game in many senses. Hope you like it though, the game needs new and old faces to come and play to keep it alive for another 5 years!

    Every other week I'll have a look-see to check if there's any noteworthy threads in here, and every week or so a thread like this pops up.

    The same general QQ, the same general "this game sucks because of x, y or z", and I've come to believe it is always the same person/group of people.

    It always seems to be some random person recently having come back and being awed by the amount of supposed fail, which they are more than happy to reiterate.

    Yep, nothing at all is wrong with a ten year old game (including it's engine), a company that's run by another company across seas with different models of paying, and a shop in-game where you can freely trade real-world money for gear.

    Just the sheer fact that you can buy your gear, skills, etc from a credit-card number is ludicrous. That's disregarding all else that has happened in the community by the company since 08.

    I'm an old player like yourself hoju, and I have a different view on this subject.

    Hey yall just putting my 2 cents In here. Their are plenty of chances for money now. Even being g16 +3 I tend to make 8-10 mill from nw. Also if one were to do FSP everyday and sale the pages atm they would make 3 mill a day which is 21 mill a week. With those two things you should be averaging somewhere around 37+mill a week. These averaged with other things is pretty decent money a week
