Still use your pet?

so i made a veno years ago shelled out the $$ for nix/herc from the start, loved them, could not see how anyone got by without them. If i was asked i would sugest buying them or roll a diff class, there was no doubt.

now they are both evolved w good skills, but the thing is i dont even use them unless i am botting, and i set my nix on def w stun( in case i need more hit on mag res mob).

now i would tell a new veno don't waist your time with them they are pointless, yes they offer some advantages in some situations. but when u hit mobs for 50k and a pet hits 4k is it worth it anymore? nix use to be a factor in pvp now its lucky if it does 500 dmg to a toon with 10-20k health, its got less than 5k hp and most anyone can 1 shot it.

im not QQ im fine without the pets, just seems senseless that a pet class no longer needs pets, or is no longer enhanced by having them.

    I still use my nix and herc to solo stuff, I mean the extra DD power is nice f:sweat

    Well..... the harpy enhances things you can do in PvE things, at least :x it's like nonstop AoE. Is a new and really expensive pet, though... [I don't have it yet but I always wanted a pet like it leveling up over the years.]

    Evolved herc is even better at tanking things than it was before.

    Evolved harpy with a good mood roll does a significant amount of damage (PVE.)

    Some of the evolved pets have skills (or can get mood skills) that really enhance PVP.

    I don't think it is obsolete until nowadays.

    You only see in a one aspect. Pets truly give us advantages. The damage what you mentioned is something what you have to consider. I mean, for example, you said that your niex hits 4k damage to mobs. It means that your total damage is 20k+4k (24k) instead of 20k only which is with no pet damage.

    Can you achieve that extra 4k damage to your basic damage? Yes, but you must do refine here and there.

    Another advantages are, when using PvP pet like Monkey King, its skills are kinda helpful to stun-lock target. You have a pet = you have new skills from it.

    As well as Harpy (PvE pet) which can give you a lot of many good things to kill mobs more easily. You can watch this video (owned by Desdi) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOKARVjCuYs&feature=youtu.be

    You are about to see that it "gives" us (veno) 2 useful area skills.

    Last thing is a herc. Once evolved, it boosts its tanking ability. So you can tank many bosses you want to.

    I still use pets a lot unless it's a place where there's too much AOE and I can't keep them alive without spending too much time on them, in that case I stow them.

    The evolved Hercules, like Mayfly said, can tank a lot more things and it gets a nice boost in DD. The Phoenix lives longer in PvP so it cast assist you with Pounce. Monkey's the same deal with it's freeze and stuns. PvP pets should be used for support in my opinion, not their damage. Lastly, Harpy has a lot of uses in PvE.

    Other non legendary evolved pets are still nice to have around.

    Pet aren't absolutely required for things, if they were then the game wouldn't be very balanced. I remember that time when people refused to run FCC unless a Venomancer with Hercules tanked...
    Pets, the way I view it, are meant to be your extension of damage, debuffs (like Howl) and support (like Pounce).

    Hell I love my evolved Nix since im only PvE I gave it the mood sly. 30% to recover 9% max hp every hit its quite nice for soloing stuff and instances, since I dont have to heal it all the time . And an evolved pet can dish out alot of dmg on aps available bosses (TT/FF/Lunar/Warsong) debuffs + HF + Natural Synergy and the pet dmg skyrockets lol b:laugh highest my nix got was a 150k crit b:victory on a Lunar boss.

    In PVE yes, in PVP/TW no. (I have the evolved nix and herc)

    My nix still a one shot so it's a waste of time to call it for PVP/TW.

    sadly going to agree with this, as i don't have a monkey i relied on my nix for a pvp pet. unfortunately it dies more than it's worth so i stopped summoning it in nw.

    As primarily PvE, I use my herc a lot. I'm tanking, stealing aggro from others on bosses, and using it as extra DD. Plus with it being evolved, I use it to keep aggro off me so I take less damage. Less damage = lower repair bill. I have a couple barb friends who love that I'll play "aggro tag" with them and tank for a bit. Saves them on repair too!
    If you bite some one, they get mad and smack you.
    But if you lick them, you still get the flavor.
    And they think you're weird.

    In the past, we relied more on our Pets than we do today, it feels like that at least.
    Now we have better gear available and whatnot, we are also more daring, more willing to experiment, test our limits, from what I observed. Before, that was unheard of. You were supposed to go by the old walked on path.
    Like everyone else already said, they are an added bonus but not necessarily the only thing you should rely on. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

    A pet is a part of being a veno u just need to use it right.
    1.they are perfect dds with the right skills/mood inhertience...and if u deal 50k on lvl150 bosses then you got a good wep.
    2. A forgoten role is debuffs...mdef patk pdef...even shreik to interrupt.
    3.A squad saver..when tank dies herc can really help a bit and so easy to suicide it.
    Sometimes i dont bother woth pets ya..but at least i have my dd/debuff pet summoned at the start of each fight...i dont feed my kowlin anymore but it got 4debuff skills that i use on any boss even pdef reduction till i am in human and can use mine.
    Bottom line, you can choose not to use pets but its like not having a blessing or not doing numea or not 2nd rb which can held you back from the best

    I use my pet more like another person in my squad. I send them to handle a mob, while I handle the other mob and sometimes I toss them a heal now and then.

    I'm able to round up mobs with my tanker, and tab each one - till the pet has aggro and then I can aoe them and kill all. Does not take me too long to tab through each - and tell my pet to now attack them (I use a Herc for this).

    For Harpy, I love her AOE. I take her to Old Heaven's Tear map 3 and simply set her in place on defend. Then I run a few mobs to here and pick (in fox form) and the mobs run to her and she kills. I find her very helpful in FF also. (Love the AOE stuns).

    For Nix, I use for training purposes. I will go in an high level mob zone w/ aggro mobs and simply .. battle. Killing as fast as I can, using all skill variations and both forms - to ensure my reaction time stays keen. I like using the Nix for this because I can practice quickly un-sticking it from ground mounds - it tends to hang on.

    When I amplify a target and use Natural synergy, my nix's damage starts resembling something decent.
    If you want it to be efficient in pvp, you have to learn defence buffs. Without them it's good for extra stun and maybe antistun if you manage to apply it before it dies.

    Kitty uses her scorpion(too poor to afford CS-pet...) for extra DD-power. Having Wraithslayer-mood skill and 5 damage skills means huge DPS from pet(fun to see boss take 50k from pet within a few secs). In FC Kitty's amp+sparking and DDing with pet while APSing means boss usually dying in one spark. f:cute

    Pets are too squishy for most of the 100+-stuff, though. Glacial with AoE-Roar can be a lifesaver in Delta though if things go bad.
