arc + wlan + old client on notebook = crash

so, in short, my daughter came to visit me this weekend, she had an elder client on her notebook and we wanted to play together. so she told her client to update (via arc, anything else it would not accept) and it updated.
afterwards, her client was working, mine (on the same wlan) which never had contact with arc did not even log in. complete re-install.

    Since you guys are on the same network, just copy your client files across to her folder.

    Auto-patching an old client usually causes issues, and takes forever even if it works.
