To be honest I don't think pwcalc.com is technically an affiliate of pwi's... sure it is related, but they aren't connected with pwi.

    That USELESS tidbit aside... /o\.

I haven't been able to get on it either. D: So a very useful site even if they aren't officially connected to pwi.

Yeah. PWCalc, much like ecatomb and PWDatabase ae not official sites connected to PWI in any way. They're incredibly useful and very handy, but not official.

And with that clarified, PWcalc for some reason, seems to have been wiped or something. The main page shows a default "It works" and the calcs I've saved/visited in the past appear to no longer exist on the site.

Hopefully it'll be fixed soon since ecatomb's calc is... rather lacking in comparison.

I love the calculator to try out stuff :( and I don't really like ecatomb's one >.<

I hope it gets fixed eventually by whoever owns it or is in charge of it.

Nah, if that were the case you'd just get a 404.

The page it's showing is the default index.html file included with a fresh install of Apache, so that's the most reasonable explanation.

Which, of course, raises the question of why they just did a fresh install, as well as why they haven't restored the site after doing so.

Ecatomb posts here from time to time; you might ping him and see if he's willing to update his calculator.

I haven't seen the pwcalc guy post here for quite some time.

Skyflox havnt updated or fixed gliches since the R999 set was added to PWcalc, the copyright also was due to 2012. My guess is that he quit PWI and everything thats connected to it. so he shut down the site or more or less stopped caring for it.

I'm working on a replacement as a cure-for-boredom kind of thing, but... no guarantees on ETA to release or if it'll ever get to that point.

I have a proof-of-concept skeleton working atm for saving / loading builds, haven't populated items or added the actual stat calculations yet. Or made it pretty, of course.

Working on figuring out unpacking the data files at the moment.

The last time this happened for a day or two was when pwcalc added the Nirvana gear. I think he even posted here saying it was down while he uploaded.

The owner seems to have quit around the time of r9t3 was released and never got around to adding those completely or the nation war gear. Maybe hes's finally doing that? Or maybe he's clearing space and junking the site, lol.

I think it's way too much work.

    1) Make database of Armor and Weapons
    2) Adding and changing shards
    3) Setting refinement
    4) Picking a class and using right class stats from http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php/Class_Statistics
    5) Picking a level and stat point allocation
    6) Adding in set bonuses
    7) Adding in class buffs
    8) Support for all the engravements
    9) Calculating various defense / attack values http://pwi-wiki.perfectworld.com/index.php/Damage
    10) Saving all this stuff to a DB or encoding it into a URL token
    11) Writing client/server interface
    12) The UI

That's probably around 10,000 lines of code, maybe more.

    11) Writing client/server interface
    12) The UI

That's probably around 10,000 lines of code, maybe more.

As someone who has spent most of the last two years as the primary (of two) developer of an application that currently sits at approximately 17,000 lines of code, not including the HTML/CSS/JS - it's not that bad. It wouldn't even be my largest "personal project." This is especially true since frameworks exist to make a lot of the typical tasks almost effortless.

    1) I've already got a program written that extracts the item data (gear, shards, addons, etc.) from elements.data into a SQL file I can import into the database -- that took about two day's worth of effort, including figuring out what the hell the file structure was to begin with.

    2) This hardly increases the amount of effort needed. Store shard IDs along with item data, recall as needed. No more difficult than recalling anything else from the DB.

    3) See #2. Refinement is easier than you might think - take the base value and multiply by a certain number based on the refinement level. Each item's base value is stored as an item addon (just like normal addons) and referenced in the item data.

For figuring out the refinement bonus for any given level, something like:
    int baseRefineID = db.Weapons.First(d => d.ID == weaponID).Select(d => d.refineID);
    int refinementBonus = db.ItemAddons.First(d => d.ID == baseRefineID).Select(d => d.value1);
    refinementBonus *= refinementMultiplier[refinementLevel];

    4) Easy enough to store and recall as needed. Hardly a difficult thing to deal with.

    5) Store level, str, dex, mag, and vit with the build. attr_points = (level*5)+15, require (str+dex+mag+vit) <= attr_points.

    6) Stored with the item data. Easy enough to pull from the db.

    7) Will be a bit of a pain, but we'll see.

    8) I haven't actually looked at engravements much yet, but I imagine it'll end up being just an additional 1-3 IDs stored for the items that use them, and they'll just be pulled like the other item addons. Shouldn't be too complicated.

    9) It's not like I have to figure out the equations -- they're pretty much laid out for me already. Plug and chug.

    10) Storing values in a database is not a complicated endeavor, and hashing eliminates the need for checking each individual value against existing records to prevent duplicates. Not very difficult.

    11) A given no matter what I'm writing, so I don't really see the point here.

    12) See (11), but to be honest, yes, this is probably going to take me longer than everything else combined. I suck at UIs.

I enjoy spending my free time programming anyway, why not make something useful with that effort? Avoiding it just because it seems "complicated" isn't my idea of a good way to approach things, and if it were easy I wouldn't be learning or enjoying myself along the way.

I'd really appreciate if people either Private Messaged, reposted or pointed me to these PWCALC links they created:

I'm looking for these classes, level 100, Nirvana, and either Nirvana or Lunar builds.

    - Sins (with 4.0 aps but the cheap-to-build one)
    - Venomancer
    - Mystic
    - Cleric (healer)

My veno is main but I always played Veno, Cleric and Sin. I want to rebuild but am going to be farming (not csing).

I wanted to try out Mystic and mine is level 25.

I see these pwcalc links everywhere but I'm really just looking for Nirvana 3rd cast. I'm not really going to take them further I don't think.
