Now that Identity change is done, can we please have sex change too?

so what a few years back was the unthinkable happened: name change is now possible.
I'm happy with all my chars names so i won't be one of the rich ones spending on this feature.
But for sure I'd spend on a sex change for at least two of my alts.

So , pwi , when is that due?

It wouldn't be possible. Veno's cant change their gender due to the mythology; and marriages would become annulled should the genders changed due to China's laws. Sorry

I also thought its been stated that one of the primary barriers to having interserver content (across all) was name databases?

idk the tech/programming involved but how can we have name change then? (im guessing the new name is like a cover for the old?) or is it not even related?

All the server don't share the same name database, which is part of the reason why we don't have server vs server content. My guess is that it's a lot easier to change the name of someone in a specific name database then to merge all the separate databases into one.

(but don't take my word for it, cause "idk the tech/programming involved" either xD)

I don't see any issues honestly. Name change was regarded a way back the same: BIG NONO.
We just need to think outside the box a bit.
Someone wants to change their name? cool!! strings attached: Null marriage and ofc race limitation for 1 gender only classes. You know if you change gender that will happen, so I really don't see any problems with these 2 constraints. What would be so confusing about that?

Is it only me or this name change scroll, will be used mainly by harassers and scammers... at least before they had to make a new char, now you can keep the old one and simply change name (whilst makeing money for pwi)

So sex change is forbiden with chinese law but gambling is encouraged ?

this game is all about gamble now... gamble packs,gamble stats,gamble books, gamble refine , gamble drops can u add poker and black jack that would be awesome to teach kids as well...

I have advise to give with these name change thingy somehow its not in PWI style to cost 39g

they should add somethign like for 5g you have a chanse to get random name so u can gamble for cool name and get it for cheaper ..

We got use to more gamble options add a 5g random name generator wiht **** names and few cools then 10g generator wiht balansed 15 wiht more cool names and so on and gold name change 39g which u can decide what to get thats real pwi item not this one ..

Sex change is allowed in China, they just have (or had(?)) some messed up regulations about birth certificate stuff or w/e, could be that that's not the case either.

But that aside, people here claim it's so easy to do this, just think about the problems to be encountered.

1 simple example; the in game marriage. If people get married and then use the gender switch thing you want implemented, then what? Auto-divorce seems to be the only option/answer then because of same-sex marriage not being allowed.

Second, let them fix things before adding stuff that can possible break more than it's worth.

OOR.. the system *might possibly allow* same sex marriages via sex change, but not via regular marriage quest where you require a bride and groom. I think the corporate big wigs in China, as well as PWE would be willing to relax on sex change/same sex marriages if there was a clear profit to be made. Elsewise, just annul the marriage as was mentioned previously. I think the ability to implement this is far easier than propagating name changes across multiple tables in a database, so we shouldn't be telling ourselves "it will never happen".

Cryptic games have the perfect solution for that(except in cases of same name, same account, different server). I can't understand why more games aren't switching over to that system.

Exactly ! I obviously don't know how the game is coded but I have some knowledge in that domain (I don't pretend what I will say will be 100% sure though). Technically it should be pretty easy to change the name of someone's toon. The only constraints would be the same as the ones you have when creating a new toon (name must not be already used on the database, some special characters not allowed, ...).

Once they said changing names was too much of a hassle to let it happen. That it would break the database, etc, etc, etc.

Now that we have it I don't see why there couldn't be sex change too. Ofc, the player would 1st have to do some stuff before being able to change like divorcing, and it wouldn't be possible for the untamed.

What is next now? Server transfer? We really need this, but then again they need to make the servers cross-server first.

I hope all this happen eventually.

its not a real name change... its a "displayed name change" aka alias. This is why they were able to come out with it.. just a simple non-indexed ( probably ) field in the db.

Server change maybe is good idea because in our sever many people are obsessed with PK and they be better off on a PVP server. But for now we really really need gender change as well.

I agree with you but its a winblows game running disparate servers via secluded db's.. so in short the 1st thing they would need to do is get realistic centralized authentication which I think was their reason for acquiring cryptic BUT they found out the system was so vulnerable and damaged that I can't be used as is..
MY GUT tell me arc is an attempt to cure that.

Do you realize that PWE doesn't like their competitors mentioned on their boards, so the odds of someone mentioning what I said and knowing Cryptic merged with PWE is greater than if whomever mentioned it didn't?

And do you also realize that PWI's dev team is in china, whereas the dev teams from each of Cryptic games(as far as I know) are not?

As stated in previous posts, there is no way we will be getting an item like that as long as China has its laws in affect. Unless you can somehow magically change this there is no way on earth it's going to happen.

Dunno if any1 else thought about this, if you have enemies, someone can make a similar name to yours, usually it is easily done if you have characters such as I and l, in game they look almost identical, and these persons can perform some malicious activities to tarnish your name. So i`d suggest making an alt which covers these letters just to be on the safe side.

Um, people have done that before this item, by doing things like changing an i to an l. I've seen a few fake blue names of more prominent players on Harshlands. (And years ago there was a fake version of one of my chars)
