R9(rr)

So I have hit crossroads here. I'm at the point where I got a decently refined G16 set and gear that's up for pretty much the most PvE challenges. I don't really PK, besides the occasional TW, but this mystic is my main and I would like to improve her.

But R9rr is a crapload of money, let's face it. And I'm not decided yet. The purify proc seems nice but... I dunno.

So here's my question, to all of you going r9rr or having it already: What convinced you to go that route? o_o

tbh, I don't see much point in getting r9rr unless you pvp on a regular basis.

I got my full G16 just before NW started and when NW started it was giving a lot of money so I decided to use it to far R9.

At the start it was easy to get 50-80m each NW, so it was a possible goal for me. =)

I went r999 because I could and there was no reason not to- what else am i gonna focus on endgame besides pvp. Save coin for the weapon if you're already full g16- then save up coin for the rest of it- might be easier than going for it all at once.

While you don't need r999 for pve it certainly doesn't hurt. The extra attack levels carry over to your pets so even more DD on those ? bosses. Not to mention the +100 magic stat.

Kinda have to agree with this, sort of.

Since I very recently acquired r9rr after like 7 months of hardcore merchanting, I can say PvE wise r9+ is not needed, more so, after the first few days of having fun killing stuff and being op it becomes quite boring. I'd say, for this, r9 should be planned and acquired as more of a goal then for its actual usefulness.

PvP wise though it's an opposite story. The difference between r9rr and any other gear in game is huge so it opens up another world for you. And you can start fighting people that you had no chance with otherwise. That's the main reason I got it and it is worth every coin.

Since you already have a good set of G16 armors, I'd say go for the weapon. The weapon is fun to abuse in PvE.

a but your paid to promote r9. yes the wep is fun to abuse in pve. gut a good set of full g16, is already more than enough for pve. the only way i'd see r9rrr being useful is in the large proc chances for abilities in pvp *such as the purify which is what makes casters such as clerics so hard to kill now, where as before a good lockdown would eat them*

but that's just my 2 cents g16 nirvana for pve and occasional nw. r9rrr for hardcore pvp and only hardcore pvp. even then if you can't afford more than +8-10 refines, i'd stick to g16 anyway.

Mods aren't paid to do their jobs, much less to promote stuff. He most likely was talking about the purify on the weapon which does a lot in pve too, not just pvp. It allows you, as a caster, to be the puller and do it very efficiently.

Yea that's what I was thinking too Skai :p Definitely seems worth going for the weap at least in the long run.

For someone who doesn't PvP much yet wants to improve their gear further..and with the limited options outside R9..I'd also say weapon's pretty nice in PvE.

Honestly the difference from G16 Nirvana and R999 gear is not very noticeable in PvE (provided same refines/shards) but it is a big boost in PvP. On the other hand, R999 weapon gives you a big boost in damage (plus Purify Proc) in PvE while in PvP...well it's nice but, will you live long enough to take advantage of it?
