NV3 2xint vs R9t3
Hello!
I've been playing around with this damage calculator, comparing my trusty NV3 daggers (+11, 1 socket, -0.1int, +30% accuracy) with my shiny new R9t3 which I'm currently working at rerolling (currently +16 dex, +57 attack levels, +3% crit). I made the daggers for their obvious advantages in PVP, but the question arose (was originally "at what refine") would R9t3 be the better choice in terms of DPS in PVE.
I am sage. This is my current PVE/DPS build.
Getting back to my story, using comparable shards to fill available sockets and with NV3 @ 4.0 and R9t3 @ 2.86, and perfect stats on the R9t3 (wishful thinking) the spreadsheet returned comparable damage to my +11 NV3s with R9t3 at +9, and at equal refines from +10-12, R9t3 returns about 10% more DPS. Yay, more damage?
Hmmm... It dawned on me that being sage I abuse windshield. So in the spreadsheet I bumped up my base aps to take this into account and was shocked at the results, so much, that I stopped lurking around these forums and posted this lol
At +10 the R9t3s advantage shrunk to <4%, at +11 %, and at +12 <2%. If a second socket were added to my NV3 daggers the advantage disappears entirely at +12 with both daggers having almost exactly the same DPS.
Am I correct to conclude that for a sage assassin using the traditional APS set, and considering I used perfect stats for the R9t3 daggers, can't permaspark without the use of chi skills at 3.33, and with the slightly reduced survivability attributed to GoF, that NV3 daggers with 2x int is not just adequate or comparable, but actually superior to R9t3 daggers in PVE situations when DPS is most important (ie bosses)?
To be honest I would rather be wrong after spending as much time and effort getting my new daggers since I do more PVE than PVP. If anyone can double check for me that would be awesome.
Side note:
Yup, my gear needs better refines/shards but they haven't been a priority as I can tank pretty much everything in a squad, and fully buffed can handle soloing all of TT except 3-3 Steelation and Illusion Lord. For PVP, pulls and AOEing I use a full NV3 LA set.. which also could use some more refines/shards but I'll probably leave them as is at +6 full of immacs as I'll eventually start working on a rank set.

yea ppl said it many times. For pve purposes s3 nirvana dager with more aps works similar to r9s3. Or even better with ur case cause u are sage and with r9s3 u lack aps.
on the side: here is what i think u could aim for http://pwcalc.com/f5be79f00ef4ea9f
hope that helped0 -
Thanks for the reply. I've read over the posts comparing the daggers but I have not come across any that mentioned the possibility that NV3 with 2x int would be the SUPERIOR option for a sage sin in PVE. Quite the opposite in fact with everyone stating R9t3 always having the advantage however slight which as far as I can tell is wrong for those with a complete APS set including tome and spam windshield which is normal of sage sins with a primary focus in PVE. Had I come across such a thread I would have probably invested my time and funds elsewhere first.
As far as r8r I've taken a break from attempting rerolls on the boots and chest I already have as after over 60 rolls I haven't seen any int whatsoever.0 -
b:sad 50 rerolls and i never get 1 int b:sad then i amke r999 daggers < engough but n3 are pretty fine for pve xD i woulda used them if werent blow up 350m on rerolls <.< b:sad but i use my r93 for farm i donthave any problem and runs are any slower couse of a 0.5 diff0

Well I've gotten a roll I'm happy with on my R9t3 daggers - +21 Attack levels, 6% crit, and 13 dex. I've refined it to +7. Initial damage tests are showing comparable DPS already even though my NV3 daggers are +11 so perhaps we can throw the calculator out. The chi management is still a little sticky since I'm used to the higher APS but it's far from being a deal breaker. Kinda reminds me of back in the day in NV when my +6 r8 daggers would steal agro from silly Barrier Thorn Nirvana ~+8 lol
Anyhow, I'll keep testing and post what I discover once I get closer to +11.0 -
Yeah from what people have told me on their average dps with r9rs3 vers my own damage with g16 nirvana, at the same refines r9 will atleast equal the same dps at 2 less intervals as the g16 daggers. That is based on both me and the others being demon. My max damage(fully buffed) against a ? boss through a spark is right at 1.1m +/- at 5aps, some of the sins i talked to were @ 3.33 sparked and did similar or higher damage. The only add's I have on my daggers is range and -.10 int.Marine - Marshall - Raging Tides - Retired

5aps is incredibly comfortable. Keep both dags and fund the refines on r9 with the t3 daggersChannels

Since you're sage, the -0.1 T3 Nirvana daggers would be preferred for PvE due to the easier chi management it gives compared to R9r2.
Otherwise R9r2 daggers have the highest DPS in the game.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony![/SIGPIC]

Thank you for all the replies
Just a couple updates.
NW: OMG wow... It's like a different game entirely. Especially when I'm ganked by all the aps bms/sins... a couple aoes clears em out and I can focus on the tougher nut (usually a seeker) I'm trying to crack. Before I'd have to turn my attention to deal with them first giving my primary target time to set up for the kill and their charm a rest. Also I swear people see the daggers and hesitate lol.
PVE: So overall, indeed the added interval and refines of my NV3 daggers are more effective. However, a fully debuffed boss seems to crumble much faster with R9t3. I've taken to alternating weapons depending on my chi after a spark or after spark>IH>subsea (pd&ep if solo) if say sage inner harmony procs and I can still maintain permaspark without additional chi skills. The results are hard to measure but seem very promising. Also, I love seeing the ridiculous numbers pop up I can't wait (for a 10* sale) to get caught up on refines!
All in all it was worth every pixel penny0 -
I have been debating for a while if i should get r9 daggers to compliment the rest of my r9r gear(2 s3 and 2 s2) i still need to get the belt. I am currently slowly leveling an alt for a sage sin instead of switching to sage myself. Being on the same account i can switch all of my gear except the r9 ring and r8 chest. The double int daggers is the main reason I am doing this and also for fun b:pleasedMarine - Marshall - Raging Tides - Retired
