Hi everybody,
welcome to a (sorely belated) SoQC. I'd like to share with you our current status.
As you know by now, we've spent the past several weeks working on Rising Call. I won't insult your intelligence by claiming that we've devoted the same amount of care and attention to this Corner as we've aspired to. Continual patch checks, functionality verifications, and a major effort to set up hardware updates weighed on us. We put in a lot of hours to set up and verify cross-server Nation Wars for Rising Call, but ran into a critical obstacle with no easy fix, one which does not exist in the Chinese version.
That said, we did follow up with our developers with several issues:
1) Pet eggs in consignment (Cat) shops randomly crashing users when they mouse over them is fixed. Let us know if this is still occurring and which items it's happening with.
2) Character and NPCs turning invisible when viewed at a certain distance (yet are still highlight-able) is a design of the system. This was decided deliberately to compromise between functionality and playability (player movements are not lightning fast and PWI was designed for a low-end 2008 computer). Hence it is By Design.
3) Coins not being awarded to dead squad members is a game design.
4) Players being stuck when NPCs appear on their location is a limitation of the game engine. While the devs would like to fix it, it would take a major change in the way the system works. Hence it's been waived.
5) Players being stunned while in the air is a deliberate design of combat to avoid disagreements between client and server. The alternative (have players be stunned as they fall) would cause more problems than it fixes.
6) We confirmed that it's intended for mana regeneration to be reduced while channeling, which includes mana regeneration items/buffs. (Had a user report that his Concentrate Orb didn't grant the expected 100 mana / sec while channeling regeneration aura).
7) Seekers cannot double-dip stances to output multiple debuffs. They can apply at most 1 debuff and being in 2 guaranteed debuff stances will reduce the chances of applying each.
8) The Donate Materials option at the Faction manager not opening the user's bag is an exception because of the way the Faction base map works. You'll have to open your own bag.
9) Treasures (via Sharp Spear) sometimes spawn inside the ground or inaccessible locations specifically because of an anti-botting measure implemented. I am currently in talks to find a compromise because it's not fair that legitimate players are being punished as well.
10) The Barb Demon Form is actually not strictly inferior to the Sage Form. I'm told that there's an attack penalty applied to the Sage Form that does not get applied to the Demon Form. In essence, Demon Form gives up speed and HP bonuses for superior offense.
11) The devs agree with players that the current implementation of Nation Wars with its large number of territories is detrimental. Specifically, it's not as fun managing so many territories, when players should be beating each other to death instead. They will fix that.
12) Players requested Ma Lin be reinstated at Dreamweaver Port, so that was done. Lu Zah remains disabled for different reasons.
13) You might have noticed that a useless item exists in the PW Boutique Agent's Gift Exchange: Useless Gold. It has a function in the Chinese version, but none for our version. The US team originally planned on adapting it for our own use, but time constraints forced us to table that. Who knows, maybe we'll return to it later.
14) The Auction House filter was fixed after Rising Call's release. That was one of our top priorities.
15) The crash at Buried Bones is due to a corrupted NPC file. We don't know what caused it, but we disabled the NPC in question.
16) The Territory Wars scheduling has been changed back to normal.
17) We're aware of the method to cheaply imbue high-level soulgems and it will get fixed in a future patch.
18) We'll be removing the functionless Gold and Silver Lottery quests from the game in a future patch.
19) The Falling Rocks in Abaddon not displaying scrolling damage is due to it being environmental damage. We're looking into a fix but the engine was never designed with it in mind. Still, the point of the challenge is to NOT get hit by the falling rocks to begin with.
20) The "bind on equip" tag on such items will be displayed in consignment shops in a coming patch.
21) The in-game GM support button currently opens your browser to our support page. We're planning on streamlining that experience.
22) We investigated reports that players cannot enter Seat of Torment (Trophy Mode) in groups larger than 6. However, we were able to enter with a 10-person group just fine.
23) Several players are having problems with the Matchless Wings in Advanced Endless Universe. We're going to clarify the steps a bit. Keep in mind that the wings must be in the player's inventory, and not equipped, for it to be upgraded.
24) The word "Under" that appears near the Boutique window when screen resolution is set above 1600 x 900 is proving to be more difficult to remove than expected. It is slated to be fixed in a coming patch.
25) The Mystic's Demon Cragglord skill is confirmed to not reduce spark costs correctly. The devs are looking into it.
26) They're also looking into why Twilight Temple's Percussion Master quest is not clearing correctly despite having the correct quest items.
27) Issues with Mystic Pets' behaviors after they die are being waved. Mystic pets were designed differently than Venomancer pets and while not wholly intended, some of their quirks are deemed within the scope of the class.
28) Seeker buffs not appearing when equipping Fashion Weapons is by design.
29) We're in discussions with the devs to compromise on special characters in faction slogans.
30) We've confirmed that training a pet's mood is not granting more than 1 skill. We're discussing this issue.
31) We've confirmed that the Chi amount tooltip is gone. We've requested a fix.
As a final note, PWE is continuing to gather feedback regarding Arc. Please let us know of any technical problems in our Technical Issues subforum. In its current implementation, we're aware that Arc is not providing as much of a benefit to users as we'd envisioned, and we're hiring assets + pouring a lot of work into making using Arc worthwhile. Trust me when I say that we've got major plans for PWI through Arc and have not simply abandoned it because of its age. You guys and gals, your enthusiasm for this game, are always at the top of our priorities in discussions.
Suffice it to say, there are legitimate reasons why we cannot simply go back to our previous distribution methods. The biggest hurdles we face is compromising between players' demands for change and improvements with players who prefer the status quo. We cannot please everybody, but we're putting our efforts into improving the game as a whole. We believe Arc is the way to do that.
If there's a specific aspect of Arc that can be improved, please let us know. Point to areas where Arc is stopping you from enjoying the game rather than simply saying you don't like it for a unspecified reason. There's a rather large thread in the General Forums: we're reading it, I promise.
Cheers,

This is a great insight into the kind of work you guys have been doing. It's nice to see how much actual communication there is between PWE and china as sometimes it can feel like we are forgotten by the devs.
I think everyone would be very excited if you can get server-vs-server working. After spending years on the same server fighting the exact same people it would be amazing to see fresh faces and new challenges. I understand though it's more difficult here then in PWCN due to our server setup. I still have some hope though.
As for Arc, I actually found downloading PWE through Arc to be pretty nice but once I downloaded it I didn't have any reason to run Arc again. The version of PWI that Arc installs still comes with the old patcher so I didn't need Arc to perform the last update. The auto-logon on launch from Arc isn't useful for me because I often want to sign on to my merchanting account instead of my main account.
To make it more useful for me it would have to be tied in with the game better I think. It would be neat to have an interface for the ingame AH or mailbox but I'm not sure how appropriate that is when Arc is used for other games.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

As a suggestion I want to say that can we have the "Account Guard" system in PWI like it is now for Cryptic Games ? it is one of the best way to keep our accounts safe & secure from hackers, thieves etc...
Also thanks for the update, I can see PWI getting better day by day.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

This, because they where talking about the Trophy Mode, not the normal instance.
When you activate the Trophy Mode in Abaddon and Seat or Torment, only 6 Players will get Teleported in but 4 of them will Disconnect, because the Trophy System is (probably) only made for 6 People and not updated to 10 People.
Other then that, awesome work. Thanks so much0 -

b:chuckle I remember when this change was made long ago because people would be zenning using the orb instead of mp charms. PWI was losing money so they changed it...the clerics weren't happy with that.
7) Seekers cannot double-dip stances to output multiple debuffs. They can apply at most 1 debuff and being in 2 guaranteed debuff stances will reduce the chances of applying each.
So can the seekers still 1 shot cata barbs ?
10) The Barb Demon Form is actually not strictly inferior to the Sage Form. I'm told that there's an attack penalty applied to the Sage Form that does not get applied to the Demon Form. In essence, Demon Form gives up speed and HP bonuses for superior offense.
Uhh...it was my understanding that after the new sage form came out the attack penalty was removed as part of the skill bonus. It effectively removed the 50% attack penalty and added the chi bonus with every form change (9 second Cooldown) on top of that. Demon barbs got uhh reduce dmg by 2% for 1 second or something stupid and that was it.
21) The in-game GM support button currently opens your browser to our support page. We're planning on streamlining that experience.
I remember the times when I needed a GM I would just chat the pwe rep via live chat and get a GM to talk to me in game in about 15-20 minutes after that. It seems the ticket system erased that quick response. b:cry
26) They're also looking into why Twilight Temple's Percussion Master quest is not clearing correctly despite having the correct quest items.
Oh man I remember this bug. It's been in existence since PWI was created and never got fixed. The thought at the time was that the quest Item was supposed to drop into the Quest Item slots like all other quest items, but someone coded the item to drop to the ground. The quest won't complete if the item is not in the Quest Items bag.
Ah old times. b:surrender0 -

There's nothing wrong with making new things, but there's also no reason to stop the old way of downloading the client from also working.
I really try to limit the amount of -things- that I download to my computer, and to me ARC seems very extraneous to my PWI playing experience.
Basically all the things that ARC can do, I can do perfectly fine through the PWI website, and I am very disinterested in -social networking- aspects; couldn't possibly turn me off the application more.
While it may be a good -option- to some types of players, a good chunk of players are just going to be annoyed by this and do everything they can to avoid ever having to download arc at all (there are already plenty of threads on the forum asking people "how to dl pw without arc" or if arc can be deleted and have pw still working, so that itself is pretty telling of how people view it), so there might as well be the option to download the client anyway. That would pretty much keep everyone satisfied.0 -
here's a few:
1: Classic UI vs "Emerald"The classic UI is used by a fair number of people, even if "unsupported" why is it not PWI-updated.
Sure you have to KNOW how to activate it, but it's not "discouraged" plus so many UI bugs in "Emerald" do not exist in the classic UI. These Emerald bugs exist in W2I as well, so clearly the UI is bugged and miscoded, not just flawed here.
2: A reflect bug for VenomancersWith the inclusion of the psychic, ranged attacks are finally reflected, but prior to the Psychic.. Bramble Guard has a lovely bug on it's reflect, is a mob is not close enough it will not reflect melee attacks. This has existed forever, and it is not due to lag, but 100% distance.
How this bug works:
Be in melee range for a mob with a somewhat slow Melee attack, then as the attack is initiated run away. The melee attack is completed, with you at ANY range. However, Bramble Guard will not affect the mob in question
3: Mob Last shotReally simple, if you kill a mob while it is attacking at range (not casting) the attack will complete no matter what. However, the same does not apply to players. Players die, their attacks end, even if already launched.I'm a guy, not a woman, that is all

One of the reasons I have left other games after being a long time member is the lack of attention to details that need fixed in lower level content. PWI is not fixing things in lower level quests that should be easy. One example is in the quest where we are to find the owner of the shoe for the lovesick soldier. We still, 6 years later, receive a "foot". I reported this error when I first started playing in Fall 2008.b:surrenderb:0

About number 10:
The Sage Barbarian True Form had the physical attack reduction prior to the release of the Panda Form, but when the Panda Form was released, the attack penalty on Sage Barbarians vanished, thus making Sage True/Panda Form superior to their Demon counterparts, especially since they also get 20 chi per cast.
Also, based on your previous status of the Quality Corner post in May, the only issue from the list provided back then (this thread) is the ***Adversity daggers' correct texture change. Is there any information regarding this?

Ah I see! Thanks for the update Ast. I didn't catch that post, obviously.
@blaze With the usual amount of delay between their version and ours, it's expected. QC gives the GMs like geno good communication from the players in a collected area on what needs to be addressed. So actually having a bug fixed rather than not is always a good thing.[SIGPIC]Octavia is best pony![/SIGPIC]

Well yeah, but I'm just saying how hard can it be to add 1 file to the models...
I get that you can't add what you don't have, but it's just... kinda silly that 1 model file has to take so long while it was missing from the start on all versions.

I had no problems with installing game with Arc, and I'd keep it if it was a tiny program; it uses up quite some memory, while offering no real benefit. It's running the game directly vs run another program to run the game.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

May I suggest that you have a small link attached to each item which references the thread where it was reported/discussed? Would save us a lot of trouble. I'm not asking you to go back and do it for this month, but maybe next month could we have it be in a format like:
[1] This is an issue.
[2] This is an issue about issues.
[3] This is an issue about issuing issues.
Also... I believe I've mentioned this before... how should we discuss issues of a broader, community-wide scope that go beyond simple technical problems? How, for example, should we be discussing the unaddressed issue of the role of hyper stones in Frost? A couple months ago when Frost hypering was disabled for a week, multiple threads were posted and a public poll with over 1000 votes was held. v4liance said at the time that the issue would require significant discussion time and attention by the dev team, which is reasonable, but no further disucssion has yet been done. How should an issue like this be addressed?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

We didn't even get 6 of 10 on our attempt. The video shows 5 of 10 entering. A second attempt was done and glitched and the 3d attempt actually ported 7 of us in. I don't know why this is suddenly a 6 of 10 bug; but the number we got ported was between 5 or 7 and not just 6 of 10. I will try another SoT TM and we'll see how that goes. It's odd though if there was no fix and you just had a test run and all was well, then why it failed for us 3 times straight. I'll take your word for it and give it a shot.I did not feel the treachery or inconstancy of a friend, nor the injuries of a secret or open enemy. I had no occasion of bribing, flattering, or pimping, to procure the favour of any great man, or of his minion; I wanted no fence against fraud or oppression: here was neither physician to destroy my body, nor lawyer to ruin my fortune; no informer to watch my words and actions, or forge accusations against me for hire: here were no gibers, censurers, backbiters, pickpockets, highwaymen, housebreakers, attorneys, bawds, buffoons, gamesters, politicians, wits, splenetics, tedious talkers, controvertists, ravishers, murderers, robbers, virtuosos; no leaders, or followers, of party and faction; no encouragers to vice, by seducement or examples; no dungeon, axes, gibbets, whipping-posts, or pillories; no cheating shopkeepers or mechanics; no pride, vanity, or affectation; no fops, bullies, drunkards, strolling prostitutes, or poxes; no ranting, lewd, expensive wives; no stupid, proud pedants; no importunate, overbearing, quarrelsome, noisy, roaring, empty, conceited, swearing companions; no scoundrels raised from the dust upon the merit of their vices, or nobility thrown into it on account of their virtues; no lords, fiddlers, judges, or dancing-masters.

We investigated reports that players cannot enter Seat of Torment (Trophy Mode) in groups larger than 6. However, we were able to enter with a 10-person group just fine.
Can you tell me which Rain dance you used to get the quest to work?
Seriously though, tried everything to get all 10 players in there without anyone getting the Rebirth delta glitch and nothing seems to work.0 -

We investigated reports that players cannot enter Seat of Torment (Trophy Mode) in groups larger than 6. However, we were able to enter with a 10-person group just fine.
Can you tell me which Rain dance you used to get the quest to work?

10) The Barb Demon Form is actually not strictly inferior to the Sage Form. I'm told that there's an attack penalty applied to the Sage Form that does not get applied to the Demon Form. In essence, Demon Form gives up speed and HP bonuses for superior offense.
Cheers,

Could you please be specific on what this detriment is or is supposed to be? As many people have said, as displayed on their character sheet there is no reduction to the sage barbs physical attack anymore in the advanced form. If there is another type of reduction such as att speed it hasn't been noticed or isn't displayed properly.
Also, any word on the barb and veno skills that were SUPPOSED to come with the new forms and in essence make them worth getting/paying for? As the quest has gotten harder with the new update more incentive to get those forms might be a good idea. Noone certainly is going to be paying 27 gold for +35 chi or -5% to enemies crit rate for 6 sec : /
P.S word on the other pets being able to evolve would also be appreciated0 -

Suffice it to say, there are legitimate reasons why we cannot simply go back to our previous distribution methods. The biggest hurdles we face is compromising between players' demands for change and improvements with players who prefer the status quo. We cannot please everybody, but we're putting our efforts into improving the game as a whole. We believe Arc is the way to do that.

Probably the same answer as to "are they ever going to close frost again?" or "are they going to port over the new form veno/barb skills?" or are they going to release the rest of the evolvable pets?" or "are they ever going to properly rebalance the classes?" or "When is PWE/Wanmei going to stop doing things half way?" These questions will probably never be answered b:shedtear
If it seems I am a tad bitter tonight, with V4l gone I feel a lot of these posts will now be ignored, (and some already have). Spoons said to keep fighting for what's right, and I'll keep doing that for as long as I play this game.0 -

To be honest, I feel the same way - QC was his creation. I have some faith in Geno but I'm really not sure how things will go here now.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

@Geno
So why didn't you spend as much time as you would have "liked to" and when are you going to start committing the time that's required to stay on top of all these bugs and fixes so they don't build up on you like the giant mountain.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate whatever work you have done, but if people are still having trouble getting into SOT and you say it's okay, how much else have you over looked?...
While I'm looking forward to server vs sever, and however amazing I think it may be, it doesn't really cover up for current things which should really have been fixed a long time ago. Surely creating new things adds to your workload and you still got a metric **** tonne to do.
With regards to falling when stunned or immobilised in the air, while I understand that it needs to be this way, I think there should be some sort of fix for when people leap/teleport left, right, back, forwards or to a target. It makes your defensive move arguably detrimentally purely due to the terrain appearing to be flat in the first place. The biggest problem area is outside west gate. If you're gonna make an area flat, make it flat, don't make it look flat when it's not.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
