Anybody got more info on the new pets?

I'm looking into the Monkey King pet (mainly) but i seem to read the same information on him..

Does anybody actually know if he is a tank pet of some sort? or is he just plain DD? because all i hear is that he's a DD and by the way i look at his stats that my friend told me he said he looked more tanky..
(I dont really like hercs but yeah)

(oh and by the way this is for a new veno on Sanc server, i've moved)

And from what i hear the Harpy is more Magical DD? is that true.

And yes i have looked around in other threads, might have missed a few but please if it answers my question, redirect me there

The monkey is a DD pvp pet but his defenses can be slightly better than a herc if u teach it herc buffs..at 100 however the herc has about 1000 more hp while the monkey has a little over 1k attack power than the herc.

I do not have a harpy, but from other players have shown/told me in game it is a magic dd.

I wrote a review here and updated it a little last night.

Monkey is a little tanky but what kind of tanking are you considering? Hercules still wins in the tanking department, needless to say that it comes with a nice aggro skill. Plus, you'd have to actually buy Strong (and maybe Protect) to turn the Monkey into a real tank pet.

Monkey is tanky as in, it has a self buff to reduce damage taken from players and whilst there's a mood skill for that, by having this self-buff the Monkey gives you the opportunity to get other useful Moods (because quite frankly, reduce damage taken from players is a must-have skill for all PvP pets if you want them to survive a hit or two).

Harpy has magic attack yes, including an AOE one, but also a physical attack that happens to be an AOE stun for monsters. Her attacks are spam-able and she gets special buffs and bonuses for damaging monsters so she makes for a good and strong damage dealing PvE pet.

I'm mainly looking for just normal PvE tanking just for quests nothing more really. I'm planing on getting a herc for farming bosses at a later time if i find that the monkey king can't take what i make it to do (i sound like such a mean veno)

Soon enough i'll go PvP but yeah

For now i have evolved Herc and nix. I keep redoing Nix skills til i get the one i want for PVP >.< i like the hercs skills though for now b:victory

I actually came back to arch... was going to do an AA veno on sanc then was like to much work already have my mystic there hahaha!

Agreeing with Eoria here. If you're just looking for normal PvE tanking and quests, a Glacial Walker would do just fine. Especially prior lvl100, things aren't too hard.

If you're considering soloing bosses, such as TT, you will have to get the Hercules eventually. The Monkey won't be able to handle such things unless you get Strong/Protect for it but if you want to turn it into a PvP pet later you might miss Pounce and maybe want to have a debuff like Howl (or just keep a buff). <- just food for thought.
You'd have to remove Pounce/Flesh Ream it comes with to make room for the other buffs.

Now, it kinda depends on what you want I suppose and how much PvP you're actually going to do. The Phoenix can fare well in PvP for a cheaper price but the Monkey has a good arsenal of control skills that help but at a more expensive price.

I'm just trying to be reasonable here because 225 gold is quite some money to dish out for a pet and there are cheaper alternatives. There won't be a sale on the new legendary pets anytime soon either.

Of course, just throwing ideas and opinions here. Ultimately you decide what you want to get.
