PWI Actually dead? Opinions?

    The PW financial news is not all doom and gloom despite my earlier posts. PW stock is still doing quite well and the company appears to be on sound financial footing even though their market share is flattening.

    However, relevant to us in this game, PW is banking on their new games and releases for growth - not PWI. The fear is that the particular game that we play, PWI, may be viewed by PW as nearing the end of its life-cycle. Accordingly, it is doubtful that the company will spend significant resources making improvements or correcting the flaws in the game - and, most importantly, attracting new players to replace the 300,000 that have been lost. Instead, the focus will be on the new games and releases.

    PWI, our particular game, has already lost one-third of its player base even accounting for the annual seasonal drop. I expect this trend to continue since PW's focus will be on the new games.

    I doubt that pw international version had ever 300k REAL players. I'm sure that several hundred thousand accounts exist. But many people just made alot of accounts for several reasons (you got e.g. once a full set of fash per character for free which had a value of 80k or something like this - some created tons of accounts with 8 characters, just to make coins this way).

    And many people just installed the game, played it for a few levels and uninstalled it again, because they didn't like it. Our servers would be crowded like hell with such an amount of characters, they would all look like those russion pw servers we can see on youtube... with 100+ people in OHT or 20-30 people per room in cube.
    I never ever saw more than ~15 people in OHT. A maximum of 5 people in a "bored room" in cube. A maximum of ~20 people at broken bow bluff for lvl 20+ culti. A maximun of ~20 people in swamps. Most parts of the map were always empty. Also in 2008, 2009, 2010.

    The only insane traffic I remember was first week in september 2008 in lvl 1-2 starter areas and the release of tideborn classes.


    I don't believe that e.g. lost city server (which was the server with highest traffic a few years ago) had ever an active community of more than 5k players at same time (I also include the casual players which log just 5-8x per month. I always said that the core (which logs every day) is just 1k, or even abit lower. And at NW we can see that I'm right. Even almost every european player which belongs to the core community does show up at NW, it doesn't matter that they have to stand up at 4 or 5am in the morning.

    This game had always a low activity compared to the really big players on the market. Be glad that the chinese version is that successful. Without them pw international wouldn't exist anymore.

    People like you are real reason why we dont have more poeple in game. Every person with a bit brain will check forum if wants to start play some game. Unfortunately when they open ours they can only se 10 threads about how game is dead and other constant qqing. No wander they runs away.

    So be kind and go play another game that is not dead yet and qq on their forum so we can have some players back:)

    Today I saw real newbie.

    He asked for help in fb51.

    We squad of me, my cleric, tabber (Assassin level 5X+), Barbarian level 68, Venomancer level 67, Assassin level 97 ... All was good until Rankar, but tabber not understood, that Rankar had AoE ...
    Revived him using Cleric 2 times, both times he died again ...
    I had not aggro, so could not to move with Rankar far from body ...
    Rankar died from one of my hits, when I thought, that I must to get aggro (it was near death already).

    So, I said, that we will reset instance again.

    At the end I found, that nobody except me, my cleric and tabber want to join in squad again.

    It was very good for me, because it gave me opportunity to do run without any unexpected actions from squad members.

    Our squad had killed Fushma and all walkers again, since they were at our way.

    Then at Rankar tabber had died again, because he was near Rankar ...

    I had not killed Rankar, because I didn't want to reset instance again.

    ...

    Tabber used his tab (something remind him, that he can use his tab for Rankar at the same way as it was for Fushma).

    I said to tabber to stay near Cleric, because near Cleric is safe from AoE zone.


    He was hit once only, because, stepped one meter toward to my Wizard, but this was enough for him to understand that he must stay near Cleric.

    So, Rankar had been killed and tabber got his quests completed.

    I asked him if he need Wyvern to be killed, but he said, that not yet.

    While exist new players in this game, game is alive.

    Next part of the sentence,     "and will be dead for years to come." MEANING b:question We will be hearing the same **** in YEARS FROM NOW... and why would that be? BECAUSE THE GAME IS NOT DEAD.

    People complain about nothing new to do at 100+ (though imo there's plenty that I haven't even gotten into). If PW made more to do at 100+; it would take me more than the 10 teles I used at a bad time of the day to get a squad for BH RB today. Not only was I competing with AEU, TT, etc; I was competing with wave 2 vs 3! The more they expand; the more some will think it's dead.

    You could just explain that from the begining, sarcasm is not easy to "read". I appologize for misundertandig. Your refering me as a child and lil more saying about how "adult" you are in discussions then me. Make yourselfe next time more clear to awoid misunderstanding or simply explain to me what wou ment and I would applogize at the first place.

    PWI used to boast over 50 million registered users.

    It has been speculated that we have dropped to maybe 10,000 core daily players, and less than 100,000 occasional players.

    These people have tons of accounts, sure, but there are still nowhere near as many players as there once were. How do we know this? Check out all the servers.

    They already merged the Euro severs, and those are still pretty barren comparatively. Most of the servers are really bare.

    HT/Harshlands/Dreamweaver are the three core servers at the moment, any others are pretty much scraping the bottom of the fishbowl for players.

    We are to the point where we should seriously consider a giant server merge and throw everyone in the same game, just to liven up the community.

    All the chatter about incentive to help people is kind of BS, as personal gain from friendships is endless as any veteran knows. Helping a cleric get to 100 and geared means you have a cleric for life. Or till they quit.

    Just my 2 cents anyway.

    If player will skip all levels except level 100 and above, then what he will be able to do then ?
    Just pvp may be.

    For me now very strange to see empty Secret Passage as world map itself, but not for above players.

    Seriously, considering the statistics during NW, we have about 160 a nation recently on Archosaur server. Assuming that only 10% of the active players do NW, thats sadly 160x4x10 = 6400 active base.

    Morai is active 24/7 and there alot of new players online daily.
    But a problem i see in the guild where i am.

    The high level leave and join guilds with 100+level players, and the little ones cannot find help that easy anymore in the guild, and sometimes they need to wait for day's to get a boss killed.b:sad
    Now you think why don't our guild recruit more high level? Well we are trying to without any result. Pretty sad for a old guild with a faction base and struggling to find players that stick around.

    Honestly, I only play this game because my boyfriend does. I think the pve content is boring and monotonous and it is difficult for players to obtain coin for the first 85 or so levels at least. I believe any game that allows the best gear in game to be bought with real coin is nub. Also, in the years I have played this game I have had maybe 2 incidents I needed Gm assistance with and both times they were complete jerks. Lame sauce. If I had to rate the ossumness of PWI on a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 2...and that is just cause of the cool friends I have made.

    The game is not dead nor in my eyes would i say its dieing. It is lacking the big community it once had before "Hyper's"

    I have seen old players come back due to the much hype talk of Nation Wars, Some complain of the rewards others still enjoy the NW for the PVP and some like the style of it.

    Some ppl like any game will get bored after so long ..ppl come and ppl go and ppl come back and sometimes it repeats, its how it is how it was and how it forever will be so long as there a PWI .

    And u do have alts after alts.

    Declining yes, dead no but without a server merge it will get so depopulated that the hard core players that have stuck it out will leave for greener pastures.

    I don't know, most QQ threads about not finding low lvl bh come from most servers, but i find you can still make low lvl bh squads on sanctuary. The pvp is *good* on the server as well, 1 vs 1 you have to make appointments b:chuckle.
