Real Super Heroes

I live in Atlanta and I was watching the news, and apparently there is this guy and his wife who dress up as super heroes and walk around and patrol the street they live on. He is called the "Crimson Fist" and has already called the police a few times about break-ins. He is a geeky little guy though that doesn't look like he could hurt anyone.

Not sure if this is a good idea or a bad idea. I think it is more bad than good. He could get seriously hurt and he really isn't helping anymore than anyone else. The hero outfit is kind of excessive. I know he is tying to do something positive, but it just seems a bit too dangerous.

Thoughts on it? Anyone else got superheroes in their cities?

Here is a website giving you some info on him. http://www.reallifesuperheroes.com/index_bak.php/2011/06/17/the-crimson-fist/

Actually yes there are "said heroes" here in canada also. If i can recall properly she had an bluish greenish suit and called herself something about mercury, but she tryed to be like a real superhero. For Example say some1 stole a purse from an old lady "said superhero" would hit the person and give the old lady their purse back

    Small world, eh?

I could see people getting in some legal trouble too if they go around punching and pepper spraying anyone they think is dangerous. What do you do if you made a mistake?

I do like the idea of doing community service and keeping an eye out for your neighbors, but you can't go around just punching people. I would rather they call the police if a burglar gets in a house, not crawl in after them.

I like the real superheros that think they can fly and jump from tall structures.

But on a serious note, I would rather someone dressed up as a super hero and trying to do something positive for society rather than the thugs in the city I live in that think drive by shootings are cool (thankfully their combined IQs mean they couldn't hit a broad side of a barn)

It may at times be dangerous, however if they know the law and abide by it I see no issue.
Citizen arrests are perfectly legal and there are laws in place to protect people who make said arrests with legitimate concern.

Ie; the government/powers that be do not want a criminal to get away because the public fears being labeled a criminal for intervening when emergency personnel are not present.

I work security and have a contract with the U.S. DoD, arrests i make are considered citizens arrests. I just don't wear tights.

People have just gotten sue happy lately though, and i have heard of cases where a burglar broke into a home and the home owner beats him up...the burglar sued the home owner for assault. I find that extremely ridiculous but if a burglar can get away with it, i know they wouldn't hesitate suing a "super hero" just trying to help someone. What is and isn't legal is so twisted now.

Lesson learned from that is if someone breaks into your home, aim to kill...

That's interesting. I'm glad he's handing out water and food and stuff and not beating up people.
