Can't get past the character screen

Every time I try to get to the character screen, I can't see any of my characters and I can't exit out (its basically frozen) so I have to restart my lap top. I tried to verify files a few times but it didn't fix the problem. I also restarted my lap top and uninstalled and re-downloaded the game. Any suggestions as to what I can do to make it start working again? b:thanks

First of all make sure you are on correct server then Please restart your PC and network hardware.

You must be on a Windows Admin account, or have Run as Admin access to be able to download, install, update, and run the game. If on Windows Vista or 7, you may have to change the level of your UAC settings or turn them off temporarily.

You will need the latest version of Flash installed, and the latest version on Internet Explorer 8, 9, or 10+

You can try adding the game folder/files to your exceptions list in your antivirus and firewall software. Please see the help menu or support website for the software that you use if you aren't sure how to do it.

At your own risk, you may have to disable your antivirus, firewall, and other security software temporarily while you download, install, update, login to, and play the game. Sometimes the security software will block it no matter what you try or even if you try to add exceptions for the game files in your security software.

You may also have to disable, shut down, uninstall, or disable any: torrent, keyboard/mouse, web browser toolbars, video/screen capture, gamepad/input device, multimedia, Instant Messaging, voice over IP, web browser games, other games software applications before downloading, installing, updating, logging into, and playing the game. Basically shut down all non-essential programs.

    My vote is corrupt files.

Disable antivirus, exclude the client directory and the three .exe files.
    Verify three times.
    Reboot.
    Try again.

If that doesn't work, post more info, and exact details on the steps you've taken.

How do I exclude the .exe files and the client directory?
I'm using CCleaner as my antivirus. Here's a link to my dxdiag:

I disabled my antivirus & firewall and re-downloaded again but it's still not working. I remember when it first stopped working that something popped up saying corrupt files but I guess I didn't think much of it.
    Thanks again :P

CCleaner isn't an anti-virus it is a program to clean up your system/cache n cookies etc.
Verify the game back to back 3 times in a row. And also have a look at this link http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=850742&postcount=18 might help you.
    Good Luck.b:pleased

It depends entirely on which antivirus software you have. If you had provided a Speccy report, I could be linking you to the support page for your software that can walk you through it, or I would provide instructions if they don't have one.

I do believe I stated that you needed to verify the files three times. Not only is it much faster than re-downloading and installing, but it will actually fix the files after the third run.
Also, if any files were marked or quarantined by your antivirus software, they aren't going to get updated. Which means that you really need to completely fix it first. (Also, with many of the more popular antivirus software packages, "disabling" it, doesn't really do a whole lot.)

Your video driver is 6 months out of date. They released a new one in March. You should download it, run it as administrator, and then use the "Clean Install" option under advanced settings. It doesn't have anything to do with your issue really, but once you do manage to get the game running, it might be a mild improvement.

That's really all I can say so far from the lack of information received. Not providing everything we ask for just delays a resolution to your problem. I don't see why people don't get this.

ok, so you've got the default MSE that comes with Win8. (Which while not being MSE as a separate entity, it's just built into Defender.)
Personally, I would recommend getting a real antivirus program. Either something free that's good like Avira or Avast, or if you're going to pony up some cash, get the best.

In order to properly exclude the client directory, follow these instructions. (They are written for Win7, but it should be very similar in Win8. I haven't taken the step to actually install Win8 on my test system yet so I'm not fully supporting it yet.)
Also, here's a neat video on how to allow programs through the firewall.

Overall, your system looks pretty clean. Just the usual bloatware, but most of it's drivers and bluetooth support.

Now verifying isn't working. When I try to log into the game without verifying an error pops up.

Try manually running Launcher.exe from the Launcher folder. (Remember to use the "Run as Administrator" option)

Sounds like you're at the complete wipe and install step.

Unfortunately, there isn't a good source for the installer atm. Torrent link is broken, ARC sucks, and the old direct download is again redirected to the fail Pando installer.

Later tonight when I get home I'll see about setting up a torrent seed, or even a direct download from my own server. (Thanks to AT&T, the speed may suck though. can't seem to get past 512kb upload bandwidth. (upload for me is download for you, but it will get cut to about 35kbps through the **** modem I'm forced to use.))

I'm having a similar problem here, but instead it's about the PWI launcher. When I open the launcher it stays at 'connecting to server..." (everything else seems normal like the flash about info on the launcher), then I discovered a way to play which is by using elementclient.exe from PWI folder. How do I solve the launcher problem? also verify, manual, and the start buttons are not clickable as it stays "connecting to server..." and of course I've disabled both antivirus and the firewall

Ensure that the entire client directory is excluded from your antivirus software.
Then try repairing the patcher by using Launcher.exe from the Launcher folder.

The Launcher.exe has the same problem as it always says "connecting to server.." and it stays like that, and for the antivirus part I actually don't have any of it besides my native antivirus program on windows 7 (the 'real time protection' has also been disabled).

Come to think of it, this problem doesn't really affect me playing PWI because I can just bypass the launcher/updater via elementclient.exe, but what I suspect is that this would probably not allow me to manual patching for future expansions/updates since I can't do auto patching atm.

If your launcher is always stucked saying connecting to servers it means either your anti-virus has ate game files or your net-connection is really poor. I think you have to re-install PWI once(don't forget to disable your anti-virus while doing it) or Verify it back to back multiple times(if you can). Or check your bandwidth speed.
