What made you choose cleric?

What made you choose to play a cleric? I'm interested on other peoples story's. My first time playing i chose a cleric because it was the only class with wings lol.

I'm an EMT/firefighter in rl so healing/helping is my natural tendency.


I also know cleric's in RPGs kind of have a... its hard to say. They're like background leaders. They don't push the squad or tell people what to do but they're a vital enough class people naturally follow them. In real life I typical fall into the leadership roll. In RPGs thats typically the tank or healer's job also, but the tank pulls people with them while people follow the cleric. That fitted my personality also.

I gotta say though, I almost always prefer melee classes. Cleric is my second favorite class to play in this game even though its a ranged class, which is rare. It just has alot to do between healing, supporting, dding, sealing... And often ends up in the middle of the action like a melee class, rather than safely outside all the action like a ranged class.

My reasons to like cleric second most are very similar to saku, except for the helpfull firefighter thingy .
I am just very bad at following others so i prefer others to follow me. I am an a-hole who thinks he does most things better than most others and thus prefer to take responsibilities in my own hands rather than let others have the more responsible roles and be annoyed by their faillure. Therefore, the tank and healer role suit me well.

Cleric comes in second because i like to be in the middle of the action, face to face with the forces of evil b:chuckle

To be honest? My first real class was veno and I had trouble to find squad cause back in time there was a lot of veno, cause before sins it was the favorite class for solo farm stuff, so as I said I had trouble to get squads or the squad was making me do all the job, like in FC they was asking me to tank ALL boss with my herc.

So I decided to make a cleric thinking ''Well cleric are needed in all squads for everything'', I do was right and never got trouble to get squad for anything.

So for me it was what made me chose cleric, back in time it was easier to get squad as cleric then veno cause veno was the most popular class I think, but today veno are more rare cause everyone made sins so if someone was starting to play today he would not necessary get that issue.

Also as cleric if you are good then people will like you and will want to run again with you and if you are good then cleric is a class that people will compliment you, if you play a DD class like wizz, psy, sin or archer people won't tell you ''Wow good job'', but a cleric that do a good job will be notice, cause good clerics are rare, not cause clerics are hard to play, but cause people don't play them like they are suppose too. So after a BH or a boss it's nice to be told ''Wow you did a good healing job.'' and it's always nice to be told we are good and it's something you won't get with other class even if you are good.

Honestly? I was playing my first char, a noob archer, and saw a cleric using plume shot. I was jealous and wanted a bow like that instead, so I made a cleric to try it out because I had no idea what clerics did. I liked it so much better, I could fly without using mana, the heals were nice, and I had nice attack skills. That was literally my thought process at the time. I had no idea I'd get thrown into squads keeping 5 other crazy people alive.

As I leveled, I eventually began to like being the healer, and my cleric became my main until my 2 year hiatus after the TB were released and the devs stole my hair... (although my first cleric's stats were terrible and I'm glad I remade Jer as he is today)

My cleric will always be my main, no matter how many other alts I have. I enjoy keeping people alive and being helpful.

SMASHnHEAL - Dreamweaver

My first toon was a wizard which I really enjoyed playing until a point where is was very hard to find squads to do anything.

I then rolled a barb and a cleric at the same time, with the cleric being a fun experiment HA build to prove people it could work. Got both to around lvl 40 before the cleric started to take over and I had lots of fun with it. I naturally like healing people and keeping them alive and while I have a number of 100+ toons I keep going back to the cleric.

Now my cleric is pretty much a barb and cleric combined - I like the versatility a cleric brings and that I could solo pretty much everything in game on it.

Enough magic for r9rr weapon, enough strength/dex for HA armour - unfortunately doesn't leave enough dex for fists/claws.

I did have some G16 axes but I find if I want to troll people whacking them with my glaive hurts enough.

Zanryu - Dreamweaver

It was the class that appealed to me the most when I started, played it for years until eventually switching to and falling in love with BMs. I'm marrying the class two months from now. Cleric is still invited to attend, we're still very good friends to this day.

Lol, should've been on Sanctuary when Tiger event came out. About 10 clerics restatted to aps in a few week. All went back to AA though.

I generally enjoyed playing support classes when I started, and that was before Mystics wandered aling. I could have switched classes for a bit more DD, but realised I'd miss the heals and buffs xD

lol, well my main is and always will be my veno but i for some reason wanted a cleric...and as i leveled them both i realize my veno had a hell of a time getting fc's she had a walker at the time...and no one wanted her. there loss now she is wanted!!

Anyways the cleric was lvled up...and i liked her. just at the same time hated dying so much so squishy but i wanted a toon that was wanted. and indeed she was and still is lol. No issues getting squads b:victory

I wanted to take a break from playing my main, which is my Venomancer, and since I like healing and generally playing support in squad I figured Cleric would be the best choice at my "main alt". Good memories.
I don't play on it as much as I used to but I still consider it as a the main alt and still quite enjoy it.

I started cleric here because I've always played healing classes in games so I felt more like I knew what I was doing as one.

I've always played healing classes because in the first mmos I played, the group of friends I played with were only missing a healer, and bullied me into making a healing class. b:surrender

Then I realised it kinda fit well with my personality. I'd rather be the quiet one in the background keeping everyone alive than one of the big guns at the front tanking and dealing the damage. As a cleric I also like the feeling that I have more control over situations and that if everything goes wrong, I'm in a position to save the day. When I play my alts I feel so naked and lost without my heals. b:chuckle

Hmm hmm hmm. My reason for choosing cleric... Well, first and foremost, I love all the classes. I have at least one of each (some I have several of XD). I've always loved elves. My main is archer. We've been through a lot together so she's my baby. This cleric is my second main. I've leveled a few other clerics but this one has gone the farthest. I have friends who have clerics as mains and they gave me their perspective on how to use them. Each one was unique and different and I took their opinions into account when doing this character. I was told healing would be very helpful, so I made sure to max out all my healing skills and revive. I also like being a healer as well as tank. A cleric is pretty much both rolled into one. If you know how to play cleric, you can do a lot with it. I know I'm not the best cleric ever, but I have come a long way on her. A few times I saved the tank from sudden death and they thanked me for it. I like for people to say "you're a good cleric". There is something grand about knowing you did a good job, even if it's in a game. I'm also very helpful in rl. I believe in helping others to the best of my ability. Being a cleric is just an extension of that. I'm that random person that'll buff you in the middle of nowhere or rez you if I see you dead. In squad I make it my business to see that everyone's ok and if not I'll heal and I'll worry about myself later. I always felt that as long as you take care of the tank and others, they'll protect you in return and sometimes go out of their way in doing so. Yes, cleric like any other class has it's pros and cons, but it's truly up to you to experience it for yourself. In my honest opinion, cleric is just as good a class like the others. They heal epically, have a plume shell that's just cruel to any melee user lol, and their skills can torment when maxed or even sage/demon decked out. Overall, they're really good. They're versatile. They can be the tank/healer/mini-DD if necessary. I love my cleric. I've died countless times, killed many times, and had draws (in nw or just plain with mob/boss killing lol). But yeah, that's my take on the matter. b:cute

Like with OP, I chose the Cleric class because I wanted to fly from the beginning. Knowing another MMO where some ways from quest to quest were incredibly long, I wanted to have the comfort of flying. But in addition to that, I also looked for something completely new, something I haven't played in any RPG before: A Mage (and let alone a healer). So I chose it over the archer. And the Cleric remained my main; I'm really happy with the versatility it offers.

My first and main char always been my sin and I remember trying out alot of other alts but always got bored of them around the 50s...
I always thought the healing job seemd REALYY difficult and i thought i probably would be a really bad cleric. Eventually i wanted make a cleric so i could keep my sin buffed and ress her if i ever die (i really hate bother my friend clerics ask for ress) but i never planned to lvl my her past 60, but yeah so i started to lvl up one and... today cleric is my 2nd main. I LOVED lvling up my cleric so much i didnt even bother bring hypers those times i did ff and i still enjoy play her sometimes more then i enjoy play my sin.
The only negative about me starting play cleric that i realised how bad many clerics actually are lol...b:surrender

When I joined PWI I came with my friend & ex, & at the time we had a system planned.
My ex was going to be the Barb to tank, my friend was a sin for DD, & I was left with healer Cleric.

Eventually they both stopped playing, but I stuck with my cleric because it was fun (& everyone needed a cleric in squad)

Being a cleric gets frustrating quickly with horrible squads, PvP, & whatnot, but there's just something about playing one that I stick with it.

Made my second cleric recently. It's got the best buffs in the game. It can revive a toon on my alt account w/ no exp loss after the fact. It can go w/o xp loss after getting morai skill. It's one of the 2 most wanted classes in the game. It can increase and sustain 20% more dmg for squad from range from a single skill.

Semi back from around a year away...but I started playing my cleric due to its ability to fly from the beginning, and its self healing abilities. I usually don't play a class that can't heal in some ways, and I liked what the cleric could do...so I stuck with it.

The first 3 reason for choosing the cleric was the wings, the plum how the bow magically apear, and how you could 1 hit the mobs which the archer couldn't. xD

It was my 2nd char but my main for along time until 5aps came out. Having played most class, I think cleric was by far the most fun class to play from the introduction of bh till 5aps was too common.

My favorite moments were aoeing, from learning how capable the cleric is to agroing as much mobs till you couldn't survive anymore. My best achievemnet was the Mothran Dazzlewing. The spiders was fun too but they were slow and less challenging.

Another favorite moments was to let lose the capable dd-ers which it was common for cleric to hold them back for safety reason. Cleric at one point back then had alot of power over their squade members even if they didn't have lead. It was fun to let them go all out to the point that you get multiple ping pong like agro while keeping them all alive, but to also rely on them to save you from agro heal as its sometime unavoidable.

I started to play my cleric because my first toon, my veno, was nooby Noone wanted me in their squad. Which i didntind til 60 came around. My pets couldnt solo bh51. I gave up my veno up and looked for a new class which i choose wiz who i deleted at lvl 21. I finally just said f it and made a cleric. She is now 101.my reason for making her wasn't flying or plume shot nor even the buffs. It was somethinguch more shallow and unrelated to the class.. the reason i choose cleric is because i hough the white elf head wings were soo pretty and now i wish they would disappear... but i do gotta say i dont regret making.my cleric... i truly love the class.
