I press start and I get this:



I'm coming back to this after a year and a half and so files may have been installed/deleted. Although I did reinstall PWI a couple days ago.

My laptop is probably the lowest end of low but PWI ran fine a year ago:

LOL my laptop is lower-end than that and it runs fine.

Unfortunately, the information you've provided isn't helpful enough for me to give you more than a couple of general catch-all answers.

1. Your texture files are corrupt because security/antivirus software ate them.
2. Your video card driver is the default that came with Windows and doesn't support Direct3D acceleration.

I will need a copy of the output from a dxdiag.txt file, and a link to a published Speccy report taken while you are having the issues.
(Remember to use the [code] tags for the dxdiag info and to remove any trademark characters so it doesn't get cut off.) (CODE tag is the # symbol in the editor.)

Yep you need a real video driver...
Try this one. It's about 3 years newer than what you have. (What you have is most likely what came with Windows and doesn't support the client's requirements.)

Also, you have Norton 360. If you don't completely exclude the client from all scans and allow patcer.exe and elementclient.exe unrestricted access through the firewall, you will experience massive lag spikes and will get corrupted files.

Got an error message saying:

"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer."

I get what it's saying although the one you linked seemed like the right one.

Yeah, you get that a lot with laptops. The laptop manufacturer has coded the chip so that it will only accept drivers from them.

In this case, you'll get an updated driver, just not the latest and the greatest because Acer hasn't certified the newer one for their systems yet.

If you didn't have the client previously excluded from Norton, but do now, verify the files 3 times in a row and then reboot.

You might also want to run the DirectX installer from the element folder in the client.
