I have noticed a LOT of the newer quests place quest items in your inventory. The problem with this is that some things just don't work if you're quest box is full. Is this an intentional design decision and we can expect that for all future quests? For example the punica fruit and perfect flesh in the jolly old jones orders, or the little mask thingies in AEU, or fairy box keys from BH, which is just a quest item to open fairy boxes.
To obtain fairy box keys:
Step 1: Pickup BH 1 from any 70+ toon.
Step 2: Complete BH and receive reward
Step 3: Watch as they take up your inventory
To obtain Punica fruit and Perfect Flesh
Step 1: Use any 70+ toon
Step 2: Pick up Advanced Grinding Machine from Jolly Old Jones Bounty Order
Step 3: Punica fruit will be placed in inventory
Step 4: Dig Advanced Grinding Machine
Step 5: Perfect Flesh or Rough Flesh will be placed in inventory.
There are many more like this, but as I've already completed those quests I cannot do this again. And since you need exact steps, I won't list them here. If anyone could please list other quests that put quest items in your inventory, it would really help.

Most of the Winter Harbinger quests that require something other than "kill" also put items into inventory.0

I agree with this. Many of the new quests (even old quests, like the tideborn chain) that were added now dump quest items into the inventory. So whenever you have to dig something, or collect a certain number of item drops from mobs, it all ends up in your inventory and takes up space. Prevents you from working on more than a few quests at once, and forces you to run to town more often to sell non-quest drops.
Additionally, things like that order tablet in morai which enables you to pick up daily quests cannot be sold. So you're stuck with one less inventory spot for two hours until it expires. Same goes for the stones that allow you to pick up BH 2. If you already happen to have the BH2 for that day in your quest list, these stones just stack up. They last only 30 minutes, but still losing one, two or even three inventory spaces for any amount of time just seems pointless. At the very least they should be NPCable.0 -
Ah yes, another good point about the morai tablets and for that matter the divine orders from BH would be a good one as well. Although I think those are that way because they are timed. I wish there was a way to scan for quest items in the database and see what bag they end up in. :P
Hero Legend Quest
Step 1: Talk to Blacksmith Mo Yun
Step 2: Receive Quest Hero Legend
Step 3: Look in inventory, his brothers steel bow and arrow quest item is placed in your bag.
edit: I'd also like to point out that rough flesh remains in your inventory, even after you trash the quest.0 -
I'll forward your concerns to the devs, thanks.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] "Life is short...Bury! Steady Sword!"0

Oh geno if you read this again, this will also help on glitches, like the glitch in pq3 not to long ago. You could spawn limitless mobs at the turrets. The whole problem there was the fact the drop you received from digging the turrets went into you regular inventory instead of you quest inventory. So instead of fixing the problem by changing that item to a quest item, the exp was nerfed(but not sp). So the problem still exists. This was brought up in that origina thread as well.
This is the same as the dragoon glitch, instead of fixing the problem(just remove the mob spawn altogether) the exp was nerfed.
A person I know that did their own testing on a priv server fixed both of these glitches with no ill effects. If I can track them down I will get them to forward what they did to you.Marine - Marshall - Raging Tides - Retired
