Sharding my daggs

Ok so i got pretty decent daggs at the moment (3rd r9 recast +12) however i'd like some opinions on shards
atm i got +40 p attack shards... some ppl told me it's a crime to shard such daggs with these crappy shards but !!! i'm not sure if it's worth wasting 80mils to get an additional 70 physical attack boost. idk the formula about how they calculate damage based on physical attacks coming from shards.... if anyone can help here would be cool
ALSO another option is getting magic shards like +100 water damage shards anyone got CERTAIN number about this subject he can give? a formula or something.
I'm demon if that can help with mastery calculations
THX !

You got +12 R9R3 daggers, but you think 80m for better shards is possibly a waste? Get out. The the **** out. Right now. Just go.
Or shard your daggers with Garnet Gems at the very least.
No really. Those are the only two options you get. Pick one.0 -
The formula works as follows:
Weapon damage + shards + bonus from rings is added together.
That number is multiplied by your bonusses from character level, dex (dex/150) and any skills or masteries including spark that say +xxx% weapon damage. Any elemental bonusses are added after this multiplication and thus are about 6-7 times less effective when you are not sparked or 11-12 times less effective when you are. This is the number you see in your char screen.
Then the result of that is multiplied by attack level.
Of course before spending those 80m you could first make sure there is nothing else in your equipment that you might want to spend these coins on.
70 maximum damage = 35 average damage. After multiplier it will probably add 400 average damage to your sparked DPH on your char screen. (or slightly over 200 to your unsparked)
Maybe the 80m can buy you a few Attack levels or crit % or dex somewhere and that could be a better investment.
For example if your sparked average dph is now 24k and you could buy yourself 3% extra crit that would bring you from say 45 to 48% crit, that would add about 2% to your damage (not 3% since you already got around 50% crit) This also would translate into 480 dph average. So if you can buy 3% crit for that money, its probably a better deal. But obviously it is not going to be that simple since when you buy something it changes more than a bit of crit%. Just to give you some indication.
Or dex for example, if you would add 20 dex, this would add 13% weapon damage and 1% crit. This would probably be also roughly equal in total DPS effect when sparked and definately have a better effect than the gem when unsparked.
So very roughly speaking i would say:*
40 average damage on weapon,shard,ring = 3% crit = 3 attack level** = 20 dex = about 2% final DPS.
*This assumes about 2000 base damage from weapon+rings and a modifier of about 12 for a total of 24k damage on char screen. If you care more about your unsparked DPS, you need to give more weight to the multiplier and thus favor dex a bunch higher.
**attack levels however depend quite a bit on opponents defence levels. But assuming you have about 50 more than he will have defence levels seems reasonable i guess. (you dont want to calculate how to maximise vs non R9s anyway, because those are not a challenge for you)0 -

My opinion?
Such weapons deserve atleast +75 Phy Attack gems.
+100 when you want the best damage.
Is there any argument against damage? i guess not, so shard, whatever you can get your hands on.0 -

I would never put a 75 in. Either something cheap and easy to replace or the best.0 -
Well, the fact, that you need 6 Garnet Gems to create one Drakeflame Stone, would cost alot.
On HL its 50-60mil for one Garnet Gem = 300-360mil for one stone, which turns out beeing a cost from around 600-720 mil.
Thats alot, i would stick with +75 honestly b:surrender
Best weapon is one thing, shard it with good gems, is another story. When you want THE BEST!!!!, then yea, there you go -> +100 Stones.
When you need to work on your gear too -> +75 Gems should do.0 -

This. Although any shard losing cost efficiency as you go higher grade. Technically the best cost efficiency would be 530 coins for +3 attack shabby garnets. That'd mean you 33 shabbies and only 17650 coin to equal a single G12 but since you only have 1 or 2 socket spaces you don't have the option.
The most practical shards are Exclusive garnets, as they're something like 1.75m for +42 attack. Cheaper and better than the +40 perfect garnets, and about 1/25th the cost for 56% the effectiveness of a G11 Garnet gem.
Garnets are about the best "I have money and I want the best shards, but I don't the somewhat insane 280m G12 shards that only offer +25 more attack."
Btw, as stated by Hruns, gems get multiplied by weapon mastery, dex/150, Titans buff, triple spark... So a +75 garnet will have about 4 multiplers (+300 to attack) when unsparked and 9 multipliers (+675 attack) when sparked. Obviously the real perk is when you get that +500% weapon damage that multiplies the shard also.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0 -

when u zerk /crit fo magic shards c their damage boosted as welll? or is it strickly limited to the physical damage u've done?0 -
Ah i was not aware of the price difference. I just posted what i posted because the guy seemed to consider +100 ones and spoke of 80m. And it would be wastefull to take 75 ones only to swap them at some point in the future Personally i shard everything flawless until i ever get to the richness that im going for JOSD and stuff like that. Similarly i wont ever refine a Sub G16/R9.3 item higher than +50

I am not entirely sure, but i think yes, all damage should be boosted. I think even attack levels boost this damage.
However, that is of absolutely no relevance. The *12 attack multiplier doesnt multiply their bonus. (the same one sabu talks about, he sais 9, i say 12 maybe its in between....Doesnt matter, just remember, big multiplier...) Meaning the best magic shard is far worse than a flawless garnet.0
