Raging Tides has been seeing a spike of closed threads recently due to naming and shaming, flaming, bashing etc.

Rule 23 of the ToS for posting on PWI forums says:

"23. No Naming/Shaming/Defaming
Please do not accuse players or guilds of in-game violations while on the PWI forums. If you have something to report, please submit a ticket. "

I cant go into specifics about which thread caught my attention or they will close this one for discussing disciplinary actions to someone. What I will ask is, if the ToS clearly lays out what is considered to be naming and shaming, why are their so many threads closed that do not fit this description?

Is it wrong to post a video of you kililng someone in pk? Is it wrong to post a pic of you killing someone in pk or damage that someone received? Is it wrong to post a World Chat statement?

    Kinda agree with Nuff on this, I understand mods are doing their job but the amount of closed threads are just..lol. I don't think this game needs as much censorship like we're having, people shouldn't get that offended if they hear their name with 1 bad word or bad statement.

    This must stop. Elvenne is crossing the line on these forums. Use vicious forums for qqme trashtalk.
    I dont see man posting his ss when he beat the unnamed to vicious archer.

    As I stated in the TW discussion thread, the forum rules are a bit more lenient when it comes to server subforums, as such posts that relate to naming, shaming, and flaming, are common. Normally I would have no problem with threads that propose a hint of a proper discussion regarding the server, such at the RT's TW state thread, as even though there is a bit of flaming here and there, the majority of the thread is built on a legitimate discussion.

    Whereas threads such as this one and this one, where the original poster is more or less inducing flame bait to the people in question at the thread start, will push my buttons in uncomfortable ways. D:


    I am not being biased in my decisions, and I know no one is accusing me of it, but I am looking at threads from a moderator's perspective. If you think I was being biased in some way, shape, or form, then please know that was not my intention. Moderators are human as well, as we have to make judgments on our own accord sometimes. Especially on volatile grounds such as this one.

    Basically, if the beginning of a thread is already bashing a single person(s) and has no real intention of an open discussion that isn't the continuation of bashing, then it will most likely be locked/depth'd. I hope this clears some things up. As many have stated, the only reason I'm actually moderating this server subforum is because I play on it.

    If there are more questions, I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability.

    Edit: @Dylena I agree with the less censorshiping, which is why not everything on this subforum is locked. Some moderation must be done. b:chuckle

    i dont think you are being biased nor any other mod. This forum is just either NW/TW vids or gtfo nowadays. I think we could use a little humor here and there.

    As long as the humor isn't targeting a single person(s), then I'm okay with that!

    After looking in the last few pages, it really has been NW/TW videos and discussions. If there is something fun we could do for the forum, then by all means let's do it! So far I am liking the thread regarding the "share your top 10 moments in RT", as it's a blast to the past and lots of reminiscing is involved.

    Yeah but if you look at it most humor comes from making fun of the other party. I understand you're doing your job Skai and you're quite good at it. Most old mods didn't do half as much a you do but I'm just talking in general not based of a single mod.

    I would love if they would reconsider making the rules a bit less major about everything. Everyone enjoys drama to a point, you watch it on TV daily and see it in your everyday life. When it does cross the line of funny into pure insults that's when I consider it to be required to be closed.

    Well i don't get it; so if Elvenne posted a video on you tube with us killing and trash talking "that QQme Marshall" it would be ok? Seems like editing with trash comments about this or that player pk/Tw/NW videos its considered "legal" while Screen Shots are not.

    While that's true, one side of the party might consider that line of funny to be pure insults, while the other side is the opposite. Just don't forget that even though I know a majority of you all, there are other people from other servers that don't know either party, and would see this and that as insults rather than funny, and vice versa. It's a tough decision, but when things happen they'll happen. And if I don't make the judgment call then another moderator will.

    That is flame baiting in the first post of the topic, and to me that's a big no. Put out the fire before it burns down the house, so to speak. Most of the video topics nowadays are just videos showing fights between certain parties. There was little to no trash talking involved, and it was more for entertainment. The main thing was that they were not provoking other people to attack with negative comments back.

    Dave wanted to post a reply to this, and will even do so on the "broken" stone face avatar so some here can stay confused...
    Dave approves of this in general. Dave would also suggest there is the opinion that some individuals in this game annoy majority of this server population and have been doing so for some time now, thus get singled out like that. (Me personally thinks it is a case of "As you sow, so shall you reap").

    There are individuals on this forums with thousand posts of pure rubbish, terrorizing RT forums with constant words having no intelligible meaning and when confronted with the consequences of it, call for mods and wave around with broken interpretations of forum rules.

    Pointing out stupid stuff people say and do is something Dave enjoys as well. It is a shame Dave is prevented from posting his collection of in game screen shots with rather disturbing comments made by some of more socially challenged players of RT.
    Suffice to say any compassion Dave might have for any individual that gets singled out like this, goes out of the window after taking a glance of those colorful screen shoots.

    But above all, and Dave can't stress it enough, just simply don't be an idiot to people around you. This will avoid any "naming and shaming" activity 99.9999999% of the time.
