Do i lost shards if i recast an r8 weapon?

Hi fellow mystics, i know this is general question but i can't find any thread to put it in.
As the title says, do i lost shards and refines if i recast r8 weapon? or how can i recast without losing them?

    Yes unless you chienkun them.

    The shards probably aren't worth the transfer cost though (hint: they aren't unless you sharded jades or POSSIBLY Icebournes depending on your server prices) and you should probably just re-buy the shards. The refines will not be worth it period.
