Soul Degen on Catabarbs

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I couldn't find any posts on it.

Does using Soul Degeneration on a catabarb prevent them from getting heals from a cleric or having their charm tick? If so, why don't venos use it more? If not, then when is the best time to use that skill in PvP (since it seems pretty useless in PvE... AEU phy-immune boss, for example)

    Soul Degeneration only effects the natural regeneration rate(and the regeneration rate added by the cleric buff), but it does not prevent the use of potions, charms, heals, or anything that's actually used to regain HP so it's largeily useless in PvP unless it is sage and thus chops off 1/5th of their total HP. The HP debuff is separate from the degen icon for sage, so normally (at least for me if I use it) it's in conjunction with something else, like amp or something.
    I don't even know what demon does anymore *in the middle of moving so doesn't want to look it up*, sorry o_o;;

    Demon SD cuts target's evasion in half, which might be useful on LA users.

    The way our curses overwrite each other, you won't see Soul Degen used as much for PVP purposes where amp is usually the preferred debuff.

    Soul Degeneration does have its applications in PvE. I wouldn't consider it completely useless.

    In PvP, it's nice to throw it on the enemy's crystal (regardless of being Sage or Demon) to prevent it from regenerating. It will give your side a slight advantage, especially when both sides' crystals have taken damage.

    As for the opponents themselves...the Sage version would be handy on a catabarb (provided the Cleric is dead and unable to Purify) followed but Amplify and other debuffs. Demon one is not too bad either and can be thrown on LA classes that naturally have a boost in evasion.
    If you're in Fox Form already, you might as well throw this at someone while waiting for other skills to finish their cooldown etc.

    pretty sure the 20% Hp decrease from sage doesn't get overridden by amplify since it's a totally separate debuff icon. Could be wrong as I rarely use this skill in pvp.

    Yeah, it stays o.o I degen and them amp directily afterwords for the sake of the 1/5th HP cut all the time at bosses; the HP decrease icon/effect normally seems to last about tenish seconds if degen is replaced by another debuff.
