The one and only way sweetiebot is a bit deceptive is that it can include people who are active twice on the list because they post under different user names. They aren't a different poster, just using a different avatar, but sweetiebot doesn't recognize them as such. This mostly applies to mods.

For example, my combined post count at the moment is 7826. And Kossy is 9442.

I doubt so, a year ago that kind of thread http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1571741 would have been closed without reach page 2 and now it's at page 64 and it's all spam by mainly the same 3 persons.

I know. It's a sore point that really disappoints me. Especially since I often get pointed to as the one that "doesn't get it." I feel like ever since titles became linked to post counts and the top posters became explicit, the community has become so much less stellar than it used to be since everything is a contest to who can get to the top. I don't ever remember the community being 'stellar' lol. There's always been whine, QQ, trash talk, as far back as I can remember. Maybe the class discussion forums were ok.

I don't see a problem with "plusone" threads in off-topic. It's always been home to forum games and pointless discussion I think. It's a problem if it spreads into other forums though.

I'd find it very amusing if people are competing for post counts because of this list. Personally I don't place any value in post count and usually refrain from posting unless I have a decent reason to. I don't even place any value in Sweetiebot points though it is interesting seeing when I see other people place value in it.

I might try a strategy where I generate a more recent list based mostly as a subset of the complete list. Really I didn't have the tools in place before to define a list like that because of the autodiscovery challenge. Now though I've already implemented autodiscovery for the full list (for instance this week Zheii was automatically added into the top 200 without any input from me).
I can probably tune that autodiscovery logic to make a recent poster list (which I'd expect to be a lot less static).

Why do people have to be such killjoys? The great thing about a public forum is it brings people of different backgrounds and ideals together, so they can co-exist and exchange ideas and discuss different topics. You can't expect everyone to conform to your idea of what's pleasant, it's about flexibility. If people having a good time hurts you or offends you in some way, you don't have to visit the thread where it's taking place. There's no reason to take things seriously, the community has never been amazing, but there are those few gems that make the forums worth posting in and the game worth playing.

Lighten up, take a chill pill, and just let people do what they do as long as it's not hurting anyone. People wanna spam post count in off topic? Have at it. Want to have an intellectual debate about Jade vs Vit stone effectiveness? Go for it. Want to argue over which class is the most OP? By all means. None of these things can really affect you if you simply stay out of the threads they happen in. If it spills over a mod will most likely delete the posts in question, if not, then it doesn't hurt you. You can very easily avoid threads you don't care to post in or read like I do.

Just sayin'.

A while ago in cleric section I had a discussion, with someone about clerics and pv and that discussion got deleted and I got pmed by a mod (the other person too I assume) to keep that discussion in pm.

That was a discussion about the game and we have been told to keep it in pm. (I don't say the mod was wrong to ask us to keep in pm that's not the point)

While the thread I linked had nothing to do with the game at all didn't got closed or told to keep their conversation in pm until now cause of complains.

For me it's just to be fair, if someone get told to keep a discussion in pm then it should be the same for everyone, off-topic or any other section.

Some people just think off-topic mean they can spam as much as they want.

I personally think a chat would be nice, that would avoid the spam, make people able to discuss live, but I do admit it could turn bad if there's no moderator to keep a eye on it.
