Yes. In fact i think many of the most succesful players dont use real money. Because real money is the easy way and probably does motivate one to become the best he can be.

You can make money by farming or by trading. If done well, its easy to make more than a sane person could be willing to spend real money. This however is not for the "casual" gamer. It involves getting a proper understanding of the games economy and having your PC run the game pretty much 24/7 with a shop even while you sleep.

Of course you can do the trading thing a bit casual as well, and that will provide enough income to be comfortable in your PvE gaming. But not to be competetive in PvP.

If you dont do trading/merchanting and or farming but you just want to go for the PvE experience doing your quests and stuff, you are gonna be anoyed by the fact that you're always broke and even your repair costs are a burden.

No the game is not hard at all really.
In my oppinion, the PvE part is about 10 times easier than it should be. But that is the way most games are nowadays. PvP is of course not hard or easy, its a matter of being better than the average gamer. And yes, equipment is the major factor there. Skill can overcome some difference in equipment, but the equipment available to a casual gamer will never beat the top level equipment. The casual player will barely even damage the high end geared player.

Of course you need to get into the game before you learn all the terms.

    Fixed it for ya :3

But yeah you can be successful without investing real money in this game :3

Just look at WarrenWolfy. The dude made billions and enough coin to buy R999 like 3 times over.

tbh, gain coin for gear up and skill not really hard. u can farm and merch for it. But im guessing you are new to this game. my suggestion is, dont make many char. Because having many char means costly alot. try to infest on 1 toon and gear it up for an end game gear :)

How many WarrenWolfs play in this game ?

How many players left this game ?

And now again: "Can casual player succeed in the game without investing real money?".

    Edit:

Each player which got R999 and refined to +12 had used real money, which were spent by him or by multiple other "not lucky" players.

The problem is your chasing a moving target. If you started out when the game was new and made money well you can have R9rrr right now without spending a cent. But while you try to catch up to the current R9rrrs they are still merching, still cashshopping, still moving ahead. The only way to leapfrog up to the front now that the game is so established is to $pend.

Exactly :3 that's a fact. People has to spend money in game to sell gold. But i try to keep it simple :3

So yes, yes you can :3

After all , it is still a game :3 success mostly depend on your goals so...

    Yeah.

Rank 9 2nd recast, technically- considered as the most superior gear of all.

ill give a little more of a noob explanation of gears. I list very rough prices in dollars.

Standard TT90* and TT99 gear. This is what is obtainable reasonably well by the casual gamer and it is all you need for PvE. Total costs of full equipment around 50$-100$ or so. Quality scale 1-10: 1

TT99gold equipment. Best version of TT gear. A complete set costs with some rings and stuff added to it is gonna end up about 200$. Quality scale: 1.3

Nirvana G15. You can make this from TT99gold and some items that are obtained in Nation wars. Nation wars is new, the items used to be worth A LOT more before than they are now. Right now. Price 230$. Quality scale: 3

Nirvana G16. This can be made from nirvana G15 with some more of those items an untradable item that comes out of the warsong instance. This equipment starts providing you with significant attack or defence levels. Cost 250$. Quality scale: 7

r8. Rank gear that requires you to get a load of reputation. This is obtained by buying an items from the cashshop. Not a full set of items available, just a few. Cost 100$. Quality scale: 5 You can recast these to make them better but i dont know anything about that.

r9. rank gear that requires you to get more reputation and other cash shop items. Cost: 1500$ Quality scale: 7

r9. recast. Improved version of r9. I dont know cost of it, more than r9..... Quality scale: 8

r9rr. Again improved. Dont know cost. even more... Quality scale: 9

That is basic equipment. Now you can refine any of those equipments to provide you extra damage and hitpoints. This refining pretty much doubles your damage and can multiply your hitpoints even more. has more effect in better equipment. You could say, it doubles the quality rating of your equipment. Total cost of refining everything to the max: 1500$

Now you can also add shards to your whole equipment. The best are JoSD. They give you defence levels doesnt matter in what equipment they are. So you could say it adds for example 5 points to quality rating. Costs 1500 dollars again.

So you can see, the maximum equipment would give you a total rating of 24 according to my just made up system. But it would cost almost 5000$. Needless to say, if you have the basic TT99 equipment, you will not even get close enough to someone like that to damage them. They kill you in 1 hit, not matter what class you are. If you get the nirvana G16 alone, that still is by far not enough to be any tread to them. The gear itself might start to get near, but you still need to refine it. Wich costs a lot of money, actually so much money that maybe you should consider getting r9 instead if you are gonna invest that anyway.

Now that was all in dollars. I did that to indicate to what extend it can go with cash shopping. Everything is however convirtible in this game, you can trade dollars for game coins and you can trade your game coins for gold that is used in the cash shop. So you can buy anything without using real dollars. Grinding instances like TT but also other things can provide you about 2$ per hour. For this grinding a combination of TT99gold, and nirvana G15 gear is usually used. Add nirvana G16 to make it go more smooth. So a 200-250$ equipment is good for making 2$ per hour. To get to that point, you will be doing some less efficient grinding for say 1$ per hour or 0.50$ at first.

You can also become a merchant. The very best merchants can make a few dozen $ per day ! An average merchant is happy with a few $ per day. This requires you to have an investment capital though, so you will first have to start with real dollars or grinding.

So yes, if you for example grind 5 hours every day to make 10$ (which in all honesty is a reasonable number for one who is online 10-15 hours a day, noone is gonna spend all his time grinding effectively) and in adition merchant another 10$ every day, that will net you 6000$ in a year wich is enough to buy the very best gear there is.** As is say, that is not for the casual gamer, but i think playing a year long grinding 5 hours every day is something many gamers do in paytoplay games as well.

*TT = twighlight temple. This is a high level instance where this so called gear comes from. TT is followed by the level that the gear is for. It starts with TT60.

** even more could be spend on gears. For example you can reroll most of the high end gears for different random stats. You could spend quite some bucks on this to make them perfect. You can also for example spend 1000$ alone on the newest and very best tome there is. But well, thats just the last details so to say for those who are ultra rich and dont know what else to do anymore ;)

disclaimer. I know many people might now have the urge to say that my prices or quality ratings are off. They probably are. But it is good enough an indication for the new gamer to understand what he's getting himself into.
