My computer i have always played pwi on has recently died and i want to re-install the game. However the internet connection I am on is being shared and I currently have no bandwidth to install (estimated to be finished in 26 hours and gaining slowly). I have the hard drive from my old computer along with a usb port hard drive dock and I was hoping i could transfer the game fast instead of downloading again. However I have no clue if it will work and don't feel like risk taking. The old computer was a dell that ran on windows vista (bad) and the new computer is an hp that runs on windows 8 (super annoying operating system!). Both computers are laptops. Is my plan feasible?

Thanks

Sure is. I keep a copy of the client on a flash drive and play it from there sometimes when I'm out and about.

Teh client installs no registry settings whatsoever. Basically all the install does is unpack the fiels, plop them into the directory, and create a shortcut on your desktop.

Simply copy the "Perfect World Entertainment" directory from your old drive to a location on your new drive, and then create a shortcut to "?\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International\patcher\patcher.exe".

Also, yes, Windows 8 is mainly developed for tablets and touch screens. Using it on a regular PC is super annoying and why I won't upgrade from 7 until I rebuild both my system, and my desk for a proper touchscreen.
Take the time to look for your answer before you post like an idiot.

Of course it is possible. I always do it when I want to play on another computer - I just copy the game files to a pendrive and play the game on any computer - sometimes without even copying the files to the computer (computer can read game files from pendrive while playing - it just make the game a little slower because of harder file managing).

I tested it on computers from XP through Vista to Win7 and it works fine. Not sure about Win8 though.
