Can we get a definitive name for the final cast of R9? I've seen R9.3, R999, R9R3, R9RS3, and all these terms are annoying to keep up with. I vote we call it R9R2 since it's technically 2nd cast. R9>R9r>R9r2.

I say:
R9, R9.2, R9.3
It doesnt sound as silly as R999, its the easiest to remember and less to type up.

Lol yeah it was getting a bit confusing. Each server calls it something different I think. Kind of how each server calls it either FC or FF. That kind of thing. Would be nice to just pick one.

I've been refering to it as R9rsX, namely R9rs1, R9rs2 and R9rs3. Some of the people actually using it seem to like it better (I don't have a problem with that) and it does look a bit cooler. IMO the common sense thing to do would be to refer to it in the more simple and straightforward fashion however, this would be r9X, or r91, r92, r93. I don't expect such a thing to catch on however...

I don't see how R91 could possibly catch on, given that no other armor set is called r1 in its first recast, it's just called "name of/abbreviation of armor here". Even the, Nirvana skipped the process completely and was simply called Nirvana/NV/vana or whatever else you crazy kids called it, only after receiving a third cast version did it get the r3/t3 title as well. I personally think R9>R9r>R9r2 makes the most sense, or R9>R9r2>R9r3 for those that find that easier... much less typing than R9rrrrrr99999ra9ra9arajkelwjal;wefa.

Let's get a common name goin' folks! Shoulda made this a poll.. damn hindsight.

I see your point, but the problem is it gets confusing since R9 is also used in a generic way, as in "those R9ers" or "the R9 crowd". If you are going for a naming convention (BTW, where's your poll?) it should be specific enough when used to refer to a particular stage, and the easiest way to acomplish this is to use the same convention to name them all, and keep R9 plain as common denominator, especially since even this you'd have to characterize if trying to be specific (eg R9+).

I chose r over R in my later example as I would think it no longer necessary to capiatlize the letter, every1 knows what you're talking about if you type r9. Still, because of the cool factor, I think R9rsX has a better chance of being accepted as a common idiom. Whoops, time to log in for NW...

I think people prefer simple things, this is PWI afterall. I don't really care what we call it as long as I don't have to type different things to different people. LET'S DECIDE ONCE AND FOR ALL.

I call it R9-3 but R9.3 sounds the same to me, so that's what I voted. That's what I find the clearest and easiest to understand.

I've always said it as R9, R9r, and R9r2, as it's a bit natural to call it that than the other options because after all, the full spelling of the acronym for the actual armors, which are Rank 9, Rank 9 recast, and Rank 9 2nd recast, go along with R9, R9r, and R9r2. Technically it would be R92r, but the OCD part of me wants to put it as R9r2 to go alongside R9r.


That's just me though, and I'll continue calling it that way xD.

Ever since I saw someone call it r999, it is what I have used. I think it's hilarious and easy to type. Also, 999 is a cool number, yo! Most people I know on DW call it r999, so I missed the boat with the r9rr thing, I guess? (Seriously, that's not even pretty to look at...)

R9.3 makes me think I am saying "nine and three tenths." Also, I am fairly certain this thread topic popped up before when someone posted about different r999's on different servers.

I also am quite partial to r99 for the same reason. Maybe more clicks than r92 but not that many more and it's less finger stretching if you want to get all weirdly technical about it like measuring clicks. xD

I've taken to calling it r999 lately. It makes it blatantly obvious which version you're referring to, as r9r2 makes people think of the second form instead of the third.

That was the thing I did not understand. I don't know why people would think that, because if the 2 makes them think of the second set, then what would R9r mean to them?

It's like how I get confused when people say R9r3 when there isn't a 3rd recast.

I've always wondered, what does the 'S' stand for in S2/S3? Stage? I know 'T' would stand for Tier.

On the forums I use "R9 3rd cast" because I'm pretty sure mentally people are lining up the 3 stages of R9 in their head and counting them off 1, 2, 3. "R9 2nd recast" would be another correct title but that always confuses people since the "R9 first recast" is the second cast of R9 (to "recast" something you have to cast it and then cast it again).

On sanc I think the trend is to say R9, R99, and R999. The benefit of that is that it is unambiguous and very quick to type. The only problem is that it is totally illogical and skips over R10-R98 and R100-R998.
