Had someone who was added to our faction tonight (won't name the name, since that's against ToS, although it'd be a more effective warning.)

Within a couple minutes, everyone online started getting pm's from someone who had the same name as the leader, but off by one letter, asking for their account information so they could get 30 free gold.

After doing some after the fact vetting via Core Connect, realized the toon that was invited was one letter off of the leader of another HT faction too.

One person gave up info to an old unused account, and it was immediately logged into.

Just letting all you HT peoples know to be on the lookout for it.

Agreed, but if someone you've known for years pm'd you asking for your account info, and you've shared account info before for one reason or another.... I know, I know, ToS police, but I can see how some might fall for it.

Something similar to this went down on DW a good while ago. The scam was dif but the use of faction leader names was the same.

not a new scam by any means. I recall someone trying to do something similar with my name at one point. Thankfully, my guildies at the time knew better and rather enjoyed telling off the so-called attempted scammer at the time.

just a simple lesson to be learned, don't share your account info. it's safer that way b:victory
