Chat Moderators In Game

Well Sanctuary faced the biggest and longest rant of obscenity I have seen in years, followed by racism and sexism, lasting over an hour. Also earlier in the day that thread was started in general discussion. I think I may have a solution
The forums have been cleaned up fast by this new team of moderators, so why not do the same for the game chatsb:thanks
Choose 3 players or so from a server. These players must be knowledgeable, helpful, and known for following rules. (Maybe ask server playerbase to choose a few people after nominations/applications are looked over by hey you?)
these players would be announced as mods on forums, and would get a chatroom or something through in game system to use to talk to eachother and another player can report to the mods in that chatroom (without being able to see name of mod online) and would be given minor powers over us, the power to drop a mute. In game the player will have no special identification (no red GM or anything next to name) and will not be allowed to discuss or threaten anyone with a mute, but can place the mute on the player and inform them why afterwards. The mutes would be based on people who break the tos with spamming too frequently, obscene material or language, and other infringements. Once a player has been muted once, the mod is given the option to raise the mute time (set increments) with each subsequent mute, and after a certain number mutes the mod can request directly to gm for a ban on that player who refuses to bow down to the power.
I know this idea has issues, so please expand on it. I think we could have some potential to fix things up a bit with some mods in game

You have my support on this. I don't want to see the trash some people talk in wc.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

A good idea. These would not be GM's, or have any game powers that are special. Just the ability to mute bad chat. I agree in sanctuary its bad, and im sick of having to wade through the trash talk and perving just to do my business of trading or recruiting for faction.
Then again, i'm not asking for censorship of the chats, enough in life gets censored. But when the serious **** gets real, would be nice to have someone who'd be able to contain it ONLY when it gets sick and vile.
Also just WC please. Faction chat should be resigned to the faction's officers, squad unneeded, and general no need, except in the case theres idiots cybering ._.0 -

Oh dear lordy...
I don't have WC open much because the spam while trying to be in a conversation in-chat, even if it's normal merchanting and whatever is irritating (I'll try to have it on in the little general chat window that's above the normal one(unless you move/minimize it), but whenever I change zones it automatically unchecks the option so I no longer see WC there, woo~...) ;there's not usually much of.. that *see quote above* in DW WC (but I myself did have some thing where someone was saying things to target me specifically there 'xD ended up spewing some debate...), but it would be useful for there. And just for there/normal."Clearly, the only logical option is Squid." -Decus <コ:彡 <コ:彡
I'm helplessly needless, and needless to say I owe you | Well I'd pull, teeter away, at the earth with my teeth, to touch your face alive | You lie, helplessly still | As your face falls apart | Well I can make your face brand new | Come take my hand and I'll take your hand | And I will pull you out | Into the sun.

Personally, it wouldn't work. If it was done on HT, the players moderating the chat system would only be trolled, and given that, entire factions would go to WC and only be a jerk to him/her, especially if it was a well known player.
It's too much power for a non-GM, and plus they probably wouldn't enjoy the game if they have to constantly watch WC, and we know this company won't give incentives.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Dear lordy indeed. These saddos need to get off an MMO and get a life if they're so deprived they resort to such behavior in a public chat.
Was on the verge of telling them to stop it or take it to pm's. Worst of all, it was in the middle of Plume, where I often do my stuff after BH69 or 79.
The worst of it is in Sanctuary's world chat. not cybering, but disgusting when its not something that is mild/dismissable or amusing drama.
I ignore it for the most part, but its really inconveniencing when im trying to find a squad for FCC/ bh/other instances, recruit for faction or even do trades.
Most annoying thing is, its from several influential people on the server. Of various big TW factions.
Edit: yeah, it would be quite a hard thing for a person to do. They'd have to be really loyal to the game or get some incentive to keep doing it. I've been a forum mod before of a much smaller one than this. Drama i got into made me quite a bitter and pessimistic person in general.
Although im still for this idea, it's unlikely to be put into practice.0 -

That's why I said 3 mods, and it wouldn't show which one took you down with a mute. Also being trolled would not be an issue seeing as the mod has the power to make them shutupb:shutup if they figure out who the mod was. Sure they won't get incentives, but I know people who have fun just by doing the right thing[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

They can still easily be called out on "abuse", and probably would ultimately cause more drama than if they weren't there at all, and it not like chat mods are on 24/7. Either way, I see them just being harassed, either in world chat, or the forums, and if chat modding was possible, it's not like they won't announce who it is, otherwise how do you go on and report your critique?
If I were to say something like "Wow, the chat mods aren't that great at their job." I would probably get muted. It would need to require a good sense on what's ban worthy, which most players would argue that most do not have.
Either way, this company doesn't have the resources to do it, you must be a GM to mute players, and that's already too much power for a random player. Not to mention that GMing is a job here, unless you live in the area of PWE, chances are extremely slim, close to not probable.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I think this could go along with the game advisors. You guys can screenshot the terrible language and ticket them yourselves as well.[SIGPIC]http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/kitsunekatie/guild stuff/allcharsig1-1.jpg [/SIGPIC]
Jealous?~❤~0 -
Tickets wont work instantly unfortunately, and these players go on hour long rantsb:shocked
Yes It's not perfect I agree, but the mod would have to be a level headed person, wouldn't just be someone promoted instantly[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
What about how people have different ideas on whats not right to say and what they think isnt a problem at all. for example my grandma swears alot and doesnt know where alot of the sayings about how sweet grandma's are came from. Some other people her age around the area deem swearing as either just wrong, assume you are an idiot, or think that you deserve to go to hell when you die. So i sure do hope there is a rule book written up for what they could mute people for.b:chuckleCollector of pet eggs, armor, weapons, fashion, and mountsb:chuckle0

That's a good suggestion, and I've got a sort of project in the works along those lines.
I don't want to raise hopes too high or spread too much info yet, but I can say I'm actively working on this issue.

Don't you just love our new CM b:victory0 -
Having mods in game in real time could be tedious, or may not be always available. Maybe they can make an alert if someone has reported a bad player then mods or gms can respond and check on demand. just saying ^^0

im liking our CM more and more by the minute with v4 here things are improving little by littleb:victoryCollector of pet eggs, armor, weapons, fashion, and mountsb:chuckle0

Wow. This is good news it's being considered.
Good luck to you V4! This could certainly bring around new changes and make our lives easier navigating all the tedious drama that just isn't needed in World Chat.
I personally don't like having people who get involved in this riddiculous behaviour when it becomes sexual in my faction. So for now, I try not recruit those who act in such a way or if one does (never happened yet) i'd kick them.
Let's hope large scale ideas succeed!0 -
Uh Hey you, a chat moderator would be really nice on Sanc, for over an hour for the past 4 days this guy has..... way too much.... maybe just pay a visit yourself b:shutup[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Yup that could be useful in some case.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

There being a poll made by community about it itself is a sad thing.
PWE needs to wakeup. Its a business with paying customers; Its a gaming company with a big (I doubt it, as of now, but still!) player base.
Yet, PWE...well, if I were to say it in short, it just lacks professionalism.0
