Equal Gear for everyone on Nation Wars...?

So there has been a lot of threads floating around about the 'balancing' in NW and how it seems to be pretty much non existent/makes no difference. A suggestion that I've seen pop up a few times and thought was a good idea myself was to make everyone wear the same gear, such as they did in the PWIC. This way everyone would be on equal ground and results will be decided upon skill and teamwork, more then who's dumped the biggest buckets of money onto the game.

LOL most epic fail suggestion ever.
As soon as people learn how to play their class you roll ever war even with maxed out recasted people in it so stop trying to dumb down the game and start playing your class.
and for the people not knowing what i'm talking about. If you are a BM and you are hitting a R9 recasted +12 person with aoe skills instead of stun+dg to let others kill him, you should reroll or just uninstallI'm famous! i'm on ecatomb0 -
To be honest I like the idea, with the addition that everyone of a certain level (60+, 70+, 80+, 80+, 100+) all getting a set of armor relevant to their class for NW. Everyone would be on equal footing. It's a nice suggestion that lacks the stupidity of flat out nerfing 100+ and people with R9. Being higher level would still grant an advantage as well.0

I like the option of take a quest and get a basic set of gear for your lvl bracket. let r9's use their r9 gear, and lazy people use liek full 1st nv +5 w/ g8's or something via 100 gear bracket.
I also support the idea that people should just learn how to play your class. I mean veno's out of foxform to DD on a mage/ep. Archers targeting barbs instead of clerics, clerics in violet dance to DD instead of heal (i understand solo nw clerics to an extent). the list could just go on. Once people have been going to nation war for a while i think they will get a better understnading of their class. Maybe i'm just being optimistic though we'll have to wait and see.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Equal gear would not be such a bad idea. However this should not make you unable to use your own gear. The gear given out should be like maybe something slightly weaker then r9 with mid refines? Would balance things alot.

We have a quest already that gives attack levels and defence levels if you are below 100. With someone geared to the teeth that is 100+, it doesn't matter, but to a level 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x that takes down poorly geared to medium geared folks 100+? I do wish to see people learning their classes.

I disagree on equal gears, because that term alone will start arguments on what is "equal".
In 6 months' time, equal could mean "on par with rank 9 stage 3".
NW is fine as it is, despite the few bugs that occur which most will be addressed in the next content update (or so they say...).
Just for the record, I do not have overpowered gear, just lousy +5 G16 Nirv with r9 weapon, which was completely farmed by Nation War rewards, just like many others I know that have geared up significantly from Nation Wars when it was first introduced. My gear before that was full -int claw Barb gear, which is not very great for PvP...
Overall, this suggestion will not work, I can see base-locking happening, and just from sheer randomness on how squads enter, you can still see 1 nation being extremely dominate over the rest.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm torn. I want to say yes, and I want to say no at the same time. I don't have R9, nor do I have G16, but I do have +10 gear. I actually worked for my gear, and put the effort in to refine it. Losing my gear while in NW would either result in one of two things: I'm a complete oneshot to any any class because I'll have 4k HP in crappy gear, or everyone is gonna have epic HP and damage output, and some not have any clue how to use it.
The opposite would be, someone like Astrelle, who has 18k HP and a truckload of def levels would suddenly have 3-4k HP as well, and no more def levels. (Asty, for those who do not know, is an R9 archer with full JOSD sharding).
Then I start to see this being unappealing for those with truely epic gear, as they no longer have the advantage of what they paid for, and so they stop playing NW, which reduces the number of overall people, and possibly, the overall fun of the instance.
I'm not trying to speak for anyone, I'm just tossing out ideas.

I agree with both of these posts (geeze, I agree with Zan... 2013 is going to be weird) and would gladly go up against other people with better gear. It just makes for more fun NWs. I don't know about giving everyone R999 +12 gears, though, as it seems to me like it'll be no fun for any parties involved.Proving that not only archers do math since 2009. b:victory

perhaps instead of getting over focused on making it so all have the same gear, lower gears buffed or w/e for NW i would think better path would be new set(s) of gear be introduced similar to the morai sets were the slayer/warding bonuses are changed to be pvp orientated rather than pve for ease of example lets call it sirens gear that way you could get
r9/t1/t/2t3:
Best all round gear with atk/deff lvl bonuses on top of its high stats, refines and attribute bonuses making it good for both pvp and pve
Nirvana t1/2/3:
Solid all round gear with good stats, refines and atk/deff lvl bonuses making it viable EG for either pvp or pve
Morai g12,g13,g15:
solid pve gears lower stats mostly (tho good refines on g15 not to be sniffed at) the bonuses for slayer and warding values making it viable EG for pve with effectiveness = or similar to r9 or high end nirvy when farming,boss fighting etc but no so wise choice when going against other players
Sirens with 3 stages again:
make this solid pvp gear with bonus values that work like slayer or warding lvls on the morai but instead of working against mobs and having nerfed stats make it so stats/refines are similar to lunar gold, nirvy t1 and nirvy t2 and bonuses only work against players not mobs making a viable set for players to use in pk/TW or NW
I would go this route as it favours the larger group of ppl for following reasons:
1: it doesn't devalue the worth of current gears and this is the most important 1 from a player perspective whether or not some1's t3nirvana or r9t3 +12 set was farmed or bought they are still entitled to it and the benefits it gives either as a reward for the effort in game or for paying money that helps support the continued running of our game's servers etc and to say they should be nerfed out of "fairness" would be hypocritical
2: introducing another desirable gear set would also be of benefit to both pwi and the player base on 1 side its another set(s) for players to work towards to improve their game with added content (new quests or dungeons w/e to farm it) and more accessibility to the pvp EG content, for pwi its another set of gears we need to refine and shard and thus another set ppl will be more inclined to spend money on as dont forget this is a business ultimately so the most likely solution will be 1 that helps them also
3: it will help player base grow rather than shrink, think about it you've worked say for example to get a full set of t3 moulds and you've gotten your nirvy set mostly t2 for the last few months to try and get yourself that edge and all of a sudden bam now the rules have changed (some might say again) and that work dosn't any more cos every1 now gets same gear by defaut or or worse the gear u were gonna make isnt worth it any more after a nerf comes through. it'd put you off playing for a bit wouldnt it? it certainly put alot of ppl off tryin to work towards anything and gettin bored doing nothing all day cos well why work for any thing if it randomly can become redundant? surely its better to keep to a system were effort is rewarded (in game or otherwise)
the only thing i would maybe do instead (& pls listen PWI ppl) is rarther than bring a whole new set(s) of gear is change the set bonuses n r8r so the 3 piece bonus is a reduction do all damage recived from players and 4 piece a amp to all damage dealt to players this will get factions again in to base trials takes advantage how the rewards are currently set up in NW anyho (r8r mats available from forge) would take the least amount of time/money/effort to implement and ofc would go along way to repairing some of the hurt done to those players who faithfully farmed r8r (and refined etc) only 2 have that effort thrown in their face when t3 nirvy made it nearly obsolete0 -
