Is R8 "Useless"?

Now that NW has made it much easier to obtain raps/ cannies, is it useless to go R8 as a seeker?

I was originally planning to go R8 a week ago, but I decided to search up the options on the forums, and apparently it's better to go nirvy now. However, I bought some gold from the AH (when they were still high), and now they're almost at 1mil each. I don't really want to sell the gold because of the prices, but if it's recommended to not go R8, I guess I'll have to.

I actually asked this question of a level 100+ seeker on my server. And from what I learned, the Rank 8 armor is better than the equivalent armor of a similar level. Additionally it would be better to go ahead and get the Rank 8 Armor assuming you ever intended to progress to Rank 9, Rank 9 Recast, or Rank 9 Double Recast. That way you have the requisite Reputation to get the Rank 9 armor already in place to begin with. At least that is my take on the spin.

U can recast R8 and u get a better set than G15 nirvy but worse than G16, so it all depend. If u are planning to go full G16 u can skip totally rank gear, but in order to do that u will probably end having to do lot of full warsong to make the set and isnt easy doing full warsong if u dont have already a decent set. Rigth now im using the G15 helm and robe for 5 attck lvl, i have the G16 dual blades and 3/4 R8recast with mats from NW. Once im full R8c i will decide if i want to continue to G16 or keep it this way. Consider that r8c+ G15 helm and G15 robe +g16 dual blades has with jonas blessing 90 attack lvl, higher attack weapon than r9 and higher def of base r9 (but u loose 20 def lvl comparing with R9). A full G15 set have much lower defence and dont have 1500hp from completion so it will not be better than r8c till u can make it G16 with full set.

Sumarizing a bit, R8c is a great set for cheap and easy to make and is only beaten for r9 and g16 when u have the full g16 set with all the completion (and isnt that easy to get a full G16 if u dont have a good set already to hold pavillions in warsong).

Personally, I think it's best used as a stepping stone towards better gear.
The following prices I have below are a worst-case scenario for Heaven's Tear: With rough guesstimates.

Gold: 1.8m each
Raps: 365k each
Cans: 70k each

With the current sale, you need 58 gold to get 200k rep, as well as an extra 4m to get the sword, chest and pants for R8. Which translates into 108.4m; or if you want the boots+wrists as well, that's roughly 52m extra.

To chip for the mats needed for all 6 pieces of armour, to turn into g15/16, you need approx. 107.6m for the gold mats alone. Roughly 10m extra would be needed for greens+souledges. Dragonslayer, Annhilation is the best and cheapest path for Nirvana, shouldn't cost more than 5m max, and, comes without binding.

Now for the expensive part: The g15 pieces.
In total; you'll need 250 raps for your weapon, as well as 1535 cans for all your armor.
Which totals together at 198.7m. (Ignoring rerolls)

With all this info in mind: A full g15 set+weapon will roughly cost 322m. For the R8 set of Weapon, Chest, Pants+ring, you're looking at a minimum 108.4m

R8 comes with less pieces, and, is a good chunk more expensive than TT. However; it's stronger than TT99, and, you can still mix-and-match it with the other 4 TT pieces you need.

TLDR: Heaven's tear is expensive as hell. R8 is better and more widely accepted than TT99, but, costs a third of the g15 set on the HT server. The end question is, how do you plan funding your g16 set? If you're gonna farm/NW for it, get R8 and gear up slowly. If you're merchanting, save the coin and invest the hell out of it.
Although, if you can manage to get gold for 1m a pop, I would recommend picking up R8 anyway.

The above quoted prices assume of course that you did not spend time gaining Reputation while leveling from level 01 all the way to level 100. Assuming that you obtained at least Rank VII by the time you were able to equip the level 99 Rank Gear, then you would have already obtained 100,000 of the reputation necessary to obtain Rank VIII when you gain another 66 million + experience points. This translates into 158.4 million coins (rounded up) which is actually a bit cheaper than you predicted. This is of course using current market trends and averages for the Heaven's Tear server which of course are always subject to change.

Though if someone were to have taken the time to get their Rep while they were leveling, and thus were only looking to invest in an additional 100k Rep in order to obtain Rank 8, then they would be looking at roughly 59 Gold (rounded up) for the entire set, or roughly 106.2 million coins (rounded up) which is significantly cheaper than what you predicted.

For record what you predicted basically comes out to around 202 million coins. And this is before modifications for the Rank 8 Recast gear.

You only need to trade the 200 wedding candies once to unlock them so that you can buy them for 1mil or 2mil (I forget which) afterwards.

yeah, what is the exchange rate of U.S. Dollars to Euro's and how does that translate when trying to buy gold on the EU Servers. Also I heard there is a tax of some sort when buying gold on the EU Servers. There is no tax when buying gold on the U.S. Servers.

none that i know of ...
when i had my *old* us account, i was able to purchase zen for usd , and had some kind of profit there.
but i dont see this happening the other way in a bad manner, vuz zen prices are based on the location your account was created from.. in your case somewhere in us i guess.

that said , there is no tax for you . in fact atm when paying in euros , one has to pay more.

I see. Either way, I have already invested a **** ton of money into the Heaven's Tear Server. Unless that Server dies, there is no way I am switching to a new server at this point in time.
