Stunning in NW?

So, in regular TWs we are stun-and-run, HF on high hp targets machines and spend another chunk of our time just spamming bell to prevent ganks.
I haven't found a list of what adds to our contribution in NWs but I know our pk count is tracked, as well as probably our damage output.
I only have been able to NW once, but my experience was I'd run in, stun a group and aoe/stunlock until I had to gtfo and watch my dd's pick people off. Half the time I'd stun a group, HF and watch a wizzy drop an ulti and 5 people would drop dead around me and I had to think "how does this help me?" Not to be selfish, but I don't get a single one of those kills so does my contribution go up? Even if we win, does winning and not having DD'd much help ourself?
So I was wondering should I ditch crowd control and focus on DD? What's your strategies?

Well I'm not really sure how its calculated and some of these differences have to deal with the large level differences. But I played one bm and one sin during that time. On the bm, I was too low level to anything besides drop a level 1 hf (better than nothing) or aoe stun, then get the hell out there. And I almost hit enough contribution to receive tokens but did not. Since my damage output is incredibly negligible and considering I was locked out of the wars for a good 45 minutes either because of flag walking or being trapped in base because we got landlocked. I suspect that someone such as yourself would earn pretty decent contribution just playing crowd control at the flag.
On my assassin, I pretty much just derped around and killed what I could. If I saw someone on my team being attacked, I just killed whoever was attacking them. I got quite a bit of contribution that way but not as much as Larkray (who posted in GD) who mostly played a supportive role and did flag capturing. In fact server wise, I didn't do that great. Despite not getting a terribad amount of kills. A lot of people got way more tokens than me, they probably killed a lot more than me too. But I don't suspect the actual kills are not the end all, be alls.
I have almost zero PK experience and no TW experience on either of those characters.0 -
Capturing the flag would be the way to go if you don't have a g16 weapon. BMs have access to 2 speed buffs, 2 leaps + apoth. First time I successfully captured a flag, I got 1.4k in that zone. I usually only get 400-900 per zone just dding.0

Also, taking damage is good too were thinking. But Im almost sure that dying somehow affects points, or at least not being in the instance when it finishes/is won.
Really, I've been stun/HFing/other AoEing and axe spamming people down. I murdered lots of people and got about the same points as the quick flag carry job I did in one instance that we won quickly. So I think its a mileage may vary by what you choose to do.
Unfortunately you have a lot of ******* grabbing flags so its a bit difficult to get the damn things and you're better off spending time murdering people. So stun is obvious for survival, but really just focus on putting down the scrubs and CCing the hard to kills. Just like TW really if you think about it, if your squad can't keep up with you.pwcalc.com/bb6fc16982637a5c / pwcalc.com/28948ee5778526f50 -

I will be selfish, unlike you guys my pvp set is not here. So i am one shot, i don't wear a charm for nw, so easy pickings on me. I have no support. If i ever go in for a stun, and stun people, other people kill the person, or i get killed before i can do more. If stun had a "system damage" of 2k, i would happily stun people. For now i just use smack, run in, drake bash, aoe, and hope to live. I avoid a psy at all costs. Without support like in tw, i am one shot if they hit for 9~14k.
I do hf, depending on who is around, but i rely more on regular aoe, and use my sparks for diamond sutra+pots to keep me alive.0 -
Do what you can to get all the damage you can. On Lothranis people weren't staying grouped up so HF was pretty useless for me, I didn't get a chance to use it in any of the fights I was in, I did pretty decently with 100 tokens and was a few k points behind a +12 G16 sin. Go in and do whatever you can do get in all the damage you can, for me that was using my APS set if there wasn't a huge gank fest, and alternating to my R9 to carry the flag every now and again. (When some Psy or Sin wasn't carrying it). Once I have my hands on R9 axes and belt I"ll just stick with R9 and AoE whatever moves. In NW it's more about going offense than defense, BMs are great for support but if you want a high score get in the front lines and focus on damage rather than making sure everyone else is able to set up. It's selfish, but it works.
Hoping to get in a nation that comes in first this week... would be a nice change of pace b:chuckle0 -

Yah, one thing I'm kind of urked at PWI for is I have Morai axes. Beautiful in PvE, so so in pvp. Yes, I use them for PvP because my other axes were +6 Rank 8 but my Morai are +7 and actualy refine well enough (and have better shards) that they have similar pvp damage while also giving +vit stats and more defenses. 17.6 mil and 2 months of Morai farming I wouldn't have done had I known PvP would become the new "farming". I have the 300k rep and enough GST and MoG to get my ring but the weapon is 800m after that and then do I refine first cast or wait till I can r9r or r9t3 it? NW screwed most my plans and kind of completely changed the rules and goals of pwi.
Friday nights I practice sign language at a deaf social coffee night. My city has the state k-12 deaf school, a community college that does ASL (American Sign Language), and a University that has an interpretting program, as well as many adult education and work programs for deaf people. I'm hearing myself, but because I'm an EMT I want to be able to communicate with anyone so Friday nights I've always gone to that and have several friends there. Now I have a 2 year old and he's learning sign language so its important for him to be immersed in it as well as a social opportunity. Sunday nights my wife works (she's a nurse and does 7pm to 7:30 am 12 hour shifts) so I'm home alone with my son. As a result neither night works really well but with the traveling times between instances, becoming landlocked, or the opportunities to just afk I can manage on Sunday nights without neglecting my son too much. 15 minute tw, go check on him while I travel. 3 minute TW, check on him again...
Anyway, I did have fun. The level difference was tasty. I'm used to TWs where no one has less than +8 refines, G15 gear, and 8k hp and every single person is a group effort to take down. I found myself in some "oh sht" situations then realized I was being axe skill spammed by multiple bms for 150 damage per hit, lol. Archers were hitting me for 1k, wizzies for 550. Was weird. Killed them *devil horns* then ran up against my +12 R9 full JoSD wizard faction leader, lol.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. I vote +5 or 6 your R9 then wait until the final cast to go higher, since +5 is cheap and easy, and with cannies and raps so easily available now... it makes sense to wait until you get that to start really refining it.0 -
I've been there two times. The first time I had no idea what to do so I just PKed the entire time, only grabbed flag one time and got around 12K contribution. Earned 254 supply tokens. Second time I picked up the flag many times. Got around 14K contribution, less kills and only got 132 supply tokens. I don't think personal contribution matters as much as overall Nation contribution ranking.
Granted the first time our nation was 2nd place, the second time 3rd place overall in Nation contribution.
So I'm not exactly sure what contributes more yet. But I do know that the overall nation contribution affects amount of supply tokens received. For example, some people earned 600 supply tokens in winning nation, losing nation only 100.
My best advice is just to do whatever allows you to win the instance faster. Even if you have a high contribution, if your overall nation team contribution is low due to low land count, you'll get crappy rewards. Somewhat similar concept to winning rooms in COA.BM PvP Guide: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1320761

A lot of people thought they were so smart by bringing in alts, but just ended up ruining it for everybody even themselves.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
