Nation War's Advice plz

I live in the UK and i refuse to get up at 3am just for a game when i have to get up at 5am in the week for work

Anyway, as i live in UK, how would i work out how to join Nation War's at a sensible time? is it 6 hours forward? 8 hours forward? 6 hours back? etc

And also, what ARE the starting times as i wanna at least have the chance to give it a go

So 8:20PM Fri/Sun server is 11:20PM Fri/Sun EST which makes it 5:20AM Sat/Mon UK b:sad

I think the game released for USA residents should arrange all their event timing around the schedule of people that live on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, that makes a lot more sense

Ok, if u want. It would involve restarting onto a new character, but it would work. Change servers, come to a European server and start again. Obviously you would have to do everything again so u might as well take the chance to change classes. But make sure u go to a european server.
if u want, to do this. Once your on the log on screen, press change servers-European and then choose either Lortharis or the other one (i dont know the other one since i'm on Lortharis)

Even though it wasn't released for USA residents - international hinting that -, ofc they should adjust their main events to times when the bulk of their playerbase is available, and that bulk is of american players. Also, those events should be adjusted to times when GMs and the likes can be available too, but LOL at GMs available in game (anyway, it's more likely to have a GM online at 8pm server time than it is to have him online at 3pm).

Anyway, the point is, even though they're not pleasing everyone, they are doing their best to please most of their players (North America being their largest market, and having a similar time zones to South America, which also has a decent number of players, it's a no brainer that America is more importan for PWI than Europe).

They did try to address that issue by releasing the euro servers, but european people chose not to move there and stay with their gear/friends/weird time schedules. But the weird time schedules were there already and people actively chose not to move. Their choice included keeping their friends and having TW at 2am both. Can't have it all, because the people they TW with are sleeping when the euro TWs are happening.

The one fix possible to that would be to have those wars/other events happening 24/7, which is the worst solution possible, since people would stop seeing each others (american's wouldn't come to TW at 4am, and neither would euro people, etc).

So, it's not "discrimination against non USA residents", because Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Canada are all in the same/similar time zones. It's privileging the mass of people who gives them the most profit.

it means among two or more nations. in Perfect World's case, those two nations are china and the US, as before PWI, all the other PWI version besides PW-CN were licensed distributions, not perfect world wholly owned distributions.

If PWI was Trans-global (which is how everyone outside of the US seems to read the word "international") then why would PWI put all their servers in the US, and divide up the regions as East and West, and globally, all of the united states is in the area referred to as "the west"

just because you aren't restricted out of PWI by location, doesn't mean your location has to be catered to.

Hypothetical situation: Imagine if a game was released in Europe that didn't close its doors to North American players but those same players kept complaining when times for events were based on EU times and they couldn't participate. Would the EU game be a bad game? No. Is it fair to state that it is catering to the market for which it was designed? Yes. Would anyone on an EU forum take any NA'ers seriously if they said "discrimination because of not being European!!" ? Hell no.

Perfect World International is OUR version of Perfect World, the game. So it is not international because of US and China. Must be the US and some other country/countries (the fact that they recently released servers in Germany and France kinda proves that point as well).

You should maybe read the rest of the post, though, cause I was agreeing with you.

If you're in the UK, wouldn't it have been slightly better timezone-wise for you to roll on one of the east coast servers instead? I mean, I know it'd still be like 1 or 2am, but that seems much better than 4 or 5am.

im more speaking to the misplaced idea that non-US players have that because "international" in in the title of the game, and they live on earth, that somehow they are entitled to accomidations.

the fact that they released EU servers 4 years after they released PWI does not really speak to their intention at the time they released PWI.

in the end the name of the game is not a grant of entitlement by Perfect World Inc. but is just a name, the fact that they released EU servers was more of a business decision on the most expedient way to exploit a perceived demand, than an endorsement of their desire to embrace all nations in the common bond of brotherhood.

i wouldn't have started playing this game if the name was Perfect World USA or Perfect World North America.
international implies global in the mindset of most people
yeah guess we were wrong, lets go play some other games.
they kickstart with several servers in a variety of timezones
not like pwi.. pwi started their euro servers years after they opened gates
...without offering server transfer

...not like you want to transfer servers after playing with the same people for years
the same people from all over the world

I'd really miss those Canadians, haven't run across a dorky one yet.

ok, i see all points, but hear me out...

PWE wants to incorporate people from all over the world into this game, yet bases most of it 'quests' etc on American time.

Why not make Nation War's at 12 hour intervals,that way, EVERYONE has a chance to actually join in, seems as that's what PWE are actually trying to do ( Allegedly )

I tried going onto European server and i actually felt like a foreigner in there as there was so many different languages, hence why i play where i play

I know that has been brought up several times (in other threads) already... but what if you can enter only once a day (like for the daily race which happens to be two times per day)?

Well me and my wife have 8x 100 characters we have built on Lost City all good gear, we have had a break for a few months because of our new baby but he has settled now and we come back to playing to see this new event is at stupid o'clock for us in the UK.

The only way to resolve this issue would be to move our characters to an EU server but my problem is they are pve servers, i want to pk!!!!

But i think we need a server move stone or something or we are going to ***, we tried it free for a few days and seems nice

IS THIS GAME DEAD FOR US? ARE WE HOLDING ONTO A SHRED OF HOPE OF A SERVER MOVE STONE? LOL

Maybe we have quit this game and just dont realise it yet
