They are necro threads if there are 30 days between posts.

It doesn't matter when the thread was made as long as posts are made within 30 days of each other.

http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=11758422&postcount=1

2011 thread.

http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=18019601&postcount=3566

Post 3566 of the same thread.

Better yet?

http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=2676881&postcount=1

2009 thread. That one isn't stickied either.

Yes, indeed, check your facts.
Read the dates of the first 3 posts before questioning why a thread was closed.

No one was asking questions. Someone made a statement.

That's not how the rule works. It's 30 days since the last post yes. But if a post was made in 2010 then someone else posts on October 7, 2012. That person necroed it. It doesn't matter it escaped mod attention and someone posts on it a week later. It was still a necro. Stickies are exempt from that rule.

Just out of curiosity, why did you start posting on HT forums lately when you've never bothered to before and aren't even from this server?

If you explained this somewhere else, sorry, I don't lurk that much, so please repeat it here.

I am on the Heaven's Tear server now. ^^ I've a bm, a mystic, and a barb. I've actually been spending the past couple of months on this server as opposed to Dreamweaver. I decided to reroll after KawaiiJen had her event here in the summer.

edit: And you guys are more active and chatty than DW server forums have been. Which is pretty much only ever about TW and math, which I never do. So I figured I'd post a bit here.

Oh I see. There was an event? O_o

Not sure what you find interesting about our server. The epic TWs were over after Enrage died and all this server does is QQ about safezone/spawnkill/noshow/cashopping.....I'm probably missing like 50 other things people QQ about.

I'm just curious about the concept of closing necro threads, if it's still fostering discussion related to the topic, then isn't it still a legitimate thread that helps stop new threads from being created on the same topic? Necroed threads actually help maintain information of a topic on a single thread instead of dispersed across multiple threads and therefore improves users' experiences with the search function.

I once asked the same thing, and instead of answering, CraptasticShelly depth'd my thread.

I once asked the same thing, and instead of answering, CraptasticShelly depth'd my thread.

    That comment wasn't necessary.

However, I will sometimes check and see if the poster does have relevant info to add to the thread, but if the thread is 1-3 years old, then it would be easier for them to either:

    A. search
    B. make a new thread.

Also since the vast majority of posts on necro'ed threads are either dumb or trollish, Those get closed.

Usually the question have been answered and by just reading the thread people can find the answer. When it's something that there's no recent thread about it and no answer than it's better to make a new one than post on a post old of 2-3 years.

The important threads and guide are sticky so in that case it doesn't matter.

Mods don't make the rules, You can hate the mods as much as you want, but they didn't create those rules, their jobs is to make people follow the rules.

A lot of comments aren't necessary, including many of yours. It hasn't stopped anyone, much less you, from making them.

I don't hate mods because of rules. I don't like their attitude and their actions, and the handful of mods I've liked and respected have quit.

Also there's no need to assume I hate the rules, because I don't. It was a question I asked at the time about the logic behind a certain rule, to which a mod responded poorly before a CM/GM (someone who DID make the rules) could even see it. However, frankie did eventually answer my question.

What you said about searching is true, so consider the fact that for someone to be able to necro a thread, they must first have used the search function to find it.

However the thing you seem not to understand is that even though we/I may be a mod, and while we may have a job to do here on the forums, is that we are still apart of the community just like you. So yea, we may have a attitude, we may say things that are not necessary, (just like you are) sometimes, but that's not something that happens often, and usually happens with people who are acting how you are.

If I really wanted to, I could have just said something jerkish (for lack of a better word) and closed your thread. But no, you asked a question, I tried to answer it and the only thing you seem to have gotten from it was:

Wrong. That's what I'm saying, not what I'm missing. You are part of the community just like everyone else. Everyone else has the same rights as you. So whether my comment was necessary or not doesn't need to be commented on, since you yourself don't seem to appreciate other people talking about whether you should be commenting.

This is what I get for trying to be a nice guy.

Well, before I leave I think I'll just close this.
