Noob Veno beats the baby herc 'dead horse'

So I'm a Veno level 21 at the moment I have a GW and a tree froggy. Eventually I was thinking i want a Herc, though after some reading people said it wasn't as needed as before. So my question is, do you think I should start (slowly) buying SoF now from cat shops until I can really start making money ingame and start buying them using gold (which i need to learn to do). If i should start trying to make money, i only have about 120k right now but soon I figure I'll be able to get at least some money from soloing low fb's for drops. Whats your overall take on this situation? ye or ne on a herc? and if so any tips to get me started down the long expensive path of getting one?

End game a herc is preferable0

It's handy if you plan on doing a lot of solo play but with current gears and class balance, it's really not much of a priority anymore.0

If 120k is all you've got you shouldn't spend it on SoF. Regardless of whether a herc is needed at higher levels or not you can certainly get there without one. And the higher you level the better your capacity to acquire resources becomes, so for now my advice would be to focus on progression and learning how to play the class properly, and not to bother with the herc question until you get to at least 6x. Most of the venos you'll meet lower than that with a herc are either twinks or heavy CSers, so it isn't like you're gimping yourself or falling behind the curve on this.
Edit; the cheaper way to get a herc is to buy when battle pet packs are on sale so buying slowly, while it may give you some sense of progress, is not the most effective way to go about it. I imagine you're planning on merchanting if you want to solo fbs, so better put your money to work and buy only when oportunity allows for you to get savings.0 -
A herc is not absolutely needed, before the sins exist people was using herc veno to solo farm TT to get money or for the FC people wanted a herc veno cause they was using the herc to tank the boss, but now with all the gears and people high lvl it's not absolutely needed.
For the start a glacial walker should be fine for you, back in time i was using a magmite and was able to solo my bh and stuff and now the glacial is better than magmite so it should be enough.
Eventually one day if you want one you will be able to farm it, but for now i think you should keep your money for gears/weap (rank armor) and get a glacial walker.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Will you powerlevel or no?
Bear in mind a herc starts at level 1. If you plan to level to 100 in just a few weeks time you'll have a hard time leveling a pet that can be 20+levels lower than you. It's wasted money then if you go that path. I know a lot of players quitting their venos out of frustration powerleveleling mindlessly then finding out their expensive herc is 40+ levels below them. You can powerlevel from 1-55 in one hour with a vortex leveler but your pet won't; he's not a mystic summon that autolevels along with you as you summon him.
If you are doing the slow grind path it will be better for the pet for the leveling won't be too much off. You get money also when you grind for mobs as you get drops from themGo Pure or go Fail

The question has been answered more or less but I'll add my 2 cents as well.
The Hercules opens up more opportunities and things you can do. Back in the days it used to be a godly pet because it was an ideal tank and it also saved the repairs of Barbarians. TT was the instance to make money and whoever had a Hercules to solo it was pretty much rich.
As new content was added to the game and upon the introduction of Hypers, Nirvana gear, Rank gear, new or revamped instances etc. things took a drastic change. The Hercules remains as the best tank pet in the game and it's still as useful as ever however; the TT market crashed due to the APS farming it faster, easier and more often. Rank gear and Nirvana gear made players strong enough to outdamage and tank anything in the game better than the pet.
The pet still shines prior endgame (100+) but it's no longer a priority. You'd be much more benefited from decent gear and your skills (Sage or Demon) so you can do BH with no issues, join Caster Nirvana, regular Nirvana etc.
My personal advice would be to keep your money and try to do some merchanting and solo whatever you can with your Glacial Walker. Make sure to have decent gear for your level and keep the money for Sage/Demon skills and your endgame gear (or at least something decent to start with like TT99 if you want to Nirvana it later or Rank 8 if you consider Rank 9). You can buy the Hercules if you still want it once you consider that earning money has become easier for you.
As of now people want Venomancers for their skills rather than their pets.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

well, others have answered ur question. i'll add abit more...
if u haven't notice, CN side already posted pictures of new godly pets that's to come in new update and revamp of pet system. not sure when but rumored to be in january next year (take 3-4months to come over)
i suggest invest the money in gears and skills for now, and put aside some money for merching... in 6 months time and see how is it.

late reply on this but from a herc veno's perspective:
If you want to play a lot of solo play, you will enjoy it a lot more with a herc.
If you plan on going endgame for pvp/tw then you would benefit from a nix more than a herc.
I dont have time to do everything so I basically jump into BH100 and the odd Nirvana to try and make coin. No pet is needed at all, but you would benefit getting any pet with the right skills for the instance - ie - a pdef or mdef buff for the pet to hit the boss with so the big dd's get the benefit.
For months now I havent pulled out any pet for squad play but for soloing tt I still use the herc. If mystics existed way back when I'd be a r8 mystic instead but I'm waiting on the expansion to see the usefullness of venos again.0 -

I used my GW until well into the 80's before obtaining a Herc, and I still use it unless I'm soloing. In Squads, the Herc is pretty useless. I'll use the GW because it DD's a lot more. (When my GW was 85, it would steal aggro from 100+ Hercs.)
My personal lineup of main pets is GW, Froggy, Kowlin, and Herc. Each servers their own purpose depending on what I'm doing.Take the time to look for your answer before you post like an idiot.
