Pure Dex or WoE?

So let me start from the top ~

I'm building an Archer, I'm aiming for R8 (Not r9, not t3, just R8 with -int gears) and who knows, maybe recast sometime down the line....

Will I TW with the archer? Maybe, it's not an out right yes or no, I don't have any ideas for doing it.

Will I PK? Yes

Will I do fancy solo TT? Probably not


Now to the debate, Pure Dex will have incredible Evasion, Accuracy, Crit and base damage. This is excellent for PK and BH100.

But on the other hand, I've asked a fac mate archer (Jaeger_ if anyone knows him) on what his input is, I had asked him if he think it's worth putting in STR just to be able to wear a WoE. He didn't give a straight yes or no, obviously because situation and opponents can make or break.

Jaeger_ is r9+11 with a WoE and 13,xxx HP with lvl11 barb buff. His WoE i believe is +10 and 3 VIT stones.


Speaking of refines, I don't plan on getting a WoE and refining it to +10, Maybe +6 or 7 at the most if I decide to build the archer in that direction.

What do you guys think? Should I go pure dex based on what I want to do with the archer? Can you share your experiences?

Edit: I just got got done playing around with PW Calc, found out if you get these specific gears, you will have exactly enough (117) str to wear a WoE regardless - and not be really that squishy without it anyway! It's more HP than I expected for end game.

    If r8 is truly your goal... you are not going to notice enough difference for it to matter. flip a coin.

    if all u want is the extra HP fromt he WoE there are lots of other ways of getting it.

    Don't bother. Having it at a lower refine and not doing anything with your str aside from wearing it means you're better off just being pure. If worst comes to pass, you can just use a nirvana helm anyway.

    Use whichever helmet your barb uses. Your archer's damage and survivability will be non-competitve whichever helmet you choose, so just save some money and use your barb's helmet, be it Forest Wisdom, Nirvana, or WoE.

    If all you can afford is a WoE +6, then WoE it is. For ~50m you can just aboutt afford a G13 +3 Nirvana helm, which is terrible in comparison.
