Archer...slight newbie?

Just kinda rerolled an archer onto a different server...new account and all...


My question is this:

What to expect, playing an archer, when it comes to leveling. Squading. and other aspects of PvE.


I do plan to r9 the archer, but that will be something at the start of the new year, as I need time to collect the cash required.

need more info to help, such as...

do you want to solo TT?
do you want to focus on PvP/TW?
do you want a mix of the above?
do u just want a PvE grinding tool?
do you like unorthodox builds?

For PvE, there is no need to go R9, just add str for armor (your lv +4 str), & all else to dex. it dosen't even matter what kind of weapon you choose with that build & you can easily get away with only +2 weapons and NPC gear.
That said, when your in an instance with similarly geared players, you may often take aggro from the barb, if this happens just take off your jones bless or a ring or something.

Also, with low lv DQ's being nerfed to 1 coin, you might find ammo is draining any profits. IMO i'd roll another char 1st to get your starting funds up.

do you like unorthodox builds? - I plan go to 4 dex, 1 str for the whole method of 1-10x. Then as I get certain pieces (like tome, cape, rings, etc.) that give any sort of +str I will deduct str from the pool until I can get the max amount of dex possible without losing the ability to wear my armor.

To answer the last point:

I am a CS'er. My start up fund for the server can be anywhere from 10 to 200 dollars, based on pay check and current bills that need to be paid (So based on gold standards, I would assume this would mean anywhere from 15 to 300 mil).

These questions are something you might want to ask on the particular server you are rerolling on. All servers are a bit different from each other.

Archers are pretty easy to level, but you are probably planning some kind of p-level thing anyway, in which case, it does not matter that you can grind extremely effectively as an archer.

If you need help grasping the basics, there are plenty of guides on the sticky labeled "Useful Links for Archers" or something like that.

As for squadding, that can depend on your server. I have not done any low level activity that requires squads in a long, long time, so if you are planning on doing low level BH's, I don't know how the squadding would go.

At higher levels, it can be difficult for archers to get random squads into things like Nirvana, but you are going R9, and may not exactly go for Nirvana pieces depending on your gear plans. The easy solution is to get into a decent faction and/or make friends.

Well if you noticed in the post I did mention sanc, which is the server I re-rolled on :P

But yeah, can't charge gold on the account I put on there until it reachs lvl 10 or so....luckily I know how to sit in the lowbie area's and just tab->**** the mobs as a lowbie archer from lvl'ing the class a few times before (never got serious as I would end up being called back to my aps toons to go kill **** for guild T_T). So I should be fine with cash for a bit till I can get my darn lvl's up for gold.




But can you asnwer on to how sanc's market area is? (Like say normal price of TT, Cube, Warsong, stuff that in 10x you can find yourself needing)

Claw/fist if only to build spark quickly to resist those nasty boss skills.
DW tho, you'll still have plenty of pew-pew for targeting robes in TW, just don't be surprised when they return the favor. lol

Also with a bit of insight from a friend i hear the new expansion coming (date unforeseen) that sage archers may become more popular because of the types of classes it includes.

If you want TT without a cleric in tow all the time then you'll definitely need to be a clawcher after your culti 89. & that's in solo mode which sux for drops, squad mode you'll once again probably want a cleric with you again or an OP mystic. Claw/fist if only to build spark quickly to resist those nasty boss skills.

Why would I need a cleric if I would be farming them after I obtained r9 ?

I mean with r9, bosses would be dieing left and right with very little issues.

Well if the boss is a close range, i.e. physical, I will just be spamming my magical skills each time they are off cooldown
If it's long range, i'll spam whatever the **** skill isn't on cooldown and I got chi for XD, or spark -> auto, depending what one it was.



Truthfully said, if I was going to focus in on PvE, I would make a sin and gear it's *** out for 5.0 +12 with G16 with at least 2 -.05 modifiers with the +40 for sure attk lvls and hoping for either another +1 attk lvl or a +160 (or however high it is for the sin) max dmg modifier. Then proceed to +10~11 the rest of the gear. Take that thing in and just face-**** all the bosses in TT, NV, etc.
