I had 20 magic, 100 vit on sin until 100. At 100 i restated, and had vit, magic down to 3. If it helps you survive, have fun in game it's fine. But you will be restating it later, so make sure you save up for it.
Putting points in vit, will hamper you damage, and potentially the armour you can wear, depending on how you put your stats.0 -
I've had the extra 45 vit points for a very long time even after I hit 100, until I got a decent gear and refined it well, then I resetted the vit points and went pure dex for more dmg[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Equipment won't be a problem as long as he stops adding vit from now on.
Damage loss would be 3-4% crit and 42.66% of weapon damage. Which sounds like a lot, but in reality it's more around 15% of actual damage since your total weapon damage multiplier is around 300-400% at endgame (every point of dex adds 0.667%).
On the other hand you gain 640 HP, which might be more than an extra 15% on your hp. It's an equal trade between survivability and damage until your armor refines give you so much HP that having vit doesn't really make a difference anymore.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'd say vitality is okay until about level 60ish when damage from weapons starts healing you better than vit helps increase your survivability. Some say that point is level 80, depends on your gear. I've leveled two sins and one had mediocre gear (and 17 vit DX ), the other had good gear, but for both the turning point where bloodpaint started healing more than I was losing was around level 60.
So 640 hp is 15% of 4266 hp, but as he levels farther and gets more hp it becomes less and less. Its about 10% for the average level 100 sin, less than that if you have decent gear.
I'd also put the average endgame weapon multipliers around 425%, not 300-400%. 500+ dex (I have 516 at 102) is about 3.4 and a 75-90% weapon mastery. Think you were leaving out dagger mastery. And many sins have higher level/better gear than I do. Or did you mean 300-400% at level 78?
15% more hp and 15% damage are not the same. Compare a 6.4k hp sin and the 300k mobs we face in instances and we'll take much more damage than 640 hp if we kill 15% slower.
Also, that 15% dd means 15% more paints heals which can be 640hp every few second, a couple thousand more hp per mob, and tens of thousands of hp more on bosses.
I agree with with Jaabg "if it helps you survive and have fun in game, its fine" but... pure dex or gtfo. Once you get past being a two shot vitality rarely helps more than dexterity as damage will start healing you more than vit will help prevent damage. Focus on refines for a little while and when you're comfortable restat to a pure dex build and you should notice an increase in survivability, not a loss.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Its not going to hinder you a ton till you reach 100. Re-stat now if you feel the extra 750 hp or so isn't worth the loss of what equals roughly 3% crit and a strength of titan's buff. You'll want to re-stat those points into dex eventually, but I'd prioritize a decently refined weapon and armor first to make up for the hp you'll lose.
Since sins are often double or triple sparked, the loss of weapon damage from 60 points is negligible when compared to the 300-500% from spark, 60-90% from weapon mastery, and the 300-400% from base damage + dex multipliers until you reach high APS and refines.RT's Heavy Armor Sin
