I was shocked to see that this update seems to use a LOT more ram then ever before. IMO My graphics are only Moderate settings.
When I first started pwi it was around 450M, now as you can see its exceeded 1G !!b:shocked
Anyone got a clue whats going on?

    That's perfectly normal.

The more populated an area is, the more graphic options you have turned on, the more RAM you will see being used.

Also, the client does not give it up very much, so once it peaks, you won't see it go down much at all because the client doesn't do any garbage collection on it's memory usage.

A while ago I started a thread where this is discussed a bit more...

isn't it about 300M more then before? I've not changed settings in forever and it seems like it is a LOT heavier then before

I haven't noticed any difference with memory usage lately with the client. I know that how high you have the graphics set plays part of it, as well as the population of the area you are in.

Normal for me is anywhere from 600MB to 1.8GB. Also, remember that the patcher creates an additional memory leak when it updates the client. Always reboot after updates or verifying.

I have this problem as well, except the RAM doesn't stop rising. It's a new computer, 64 bit (same as laptop but it doesn't have this problem) that shouldn't be having an issue. I've gotten up to 2G before. Everytime it gets to a peak like that, it crashes. Other games like Portal 2 get up to 4G of usage before crashing. Is this a Graphics software issue with DivX maybe?
