    Oh drop DEAD tweakz.

To fill out my previous post, then.

About half pdef and half hp shards on an arcane-armour character.

I'm currently hybrid vit, but likely to restat that once I have gear/refines to make up for the 500+ HP it'll cost me.

The only REALLY important thing is to have enough defence and hitpoints to survive; there is a balance where having fewer HP makes the some heals more efficient - but our big heals are percentage based anyway. And applying the same 'logic' to your MP pool shows how silly it is.

More hitpoints is better than few hitpoints. More pdef is better than low pdef. But shards (and refined pdef ornaments) are just about your only ways to *get* pdef, so I prefer that.

Things change, I guess, if you use the morai armour which has defence levels. then HP start to matter again.

Yes, of course the graph is simplified, you obnoxious troll. If people want the pure complexity then they can just, you know, play the game and crunch the attack formulae. Simplification is a necessary step towards understanding.

Finally - the pearl. I take serious objection to your objecting to my classifying the strength as unhelpful.
As I did state; I swap out my ornaments for a channel set. And so I cannot rely on the strength from the pearl, as it isn't there half the time.
And so, if I was relying on that strength, my armour would stop working. and that would be a very bad thing.

As it happens, right now I have more strength than I need, as I'm statted for the next lot of armour, which I don't yet have.

So - I stick with my previous advice.
If you know that your pdef is terrible, pdef shards. If you know your hp are horrible, hp shards.
If you're not sure; you can't go very wrong with half and half.

the amount of pdef/hp shards add is, frankly, tiny anyway.

    asterelle's socket calculator

does a good job of answering the "what stones are best for me and my budget" question

but as an oversimplification, garnets start providing better average survivablity once you hit about 9000 hp

Thank you all for your contributions, currently I have around 4.7k hp after adding some hp shards and refining my armours +3 to +5. I changed my neck, robe and belt to pdef types.
    (mdef during caster vana)

I seldom die in caster vana (or anywhere without hp charm now)b:thanks, next step is to get some pdef shards. But the chests that come to me all open to be cannies. Hope I get some free flawless garnet shards soon.b:surrenderb:sad

As others have said morai is a good place to get some pretty decent shards decently cheap.

That is nice, you can still get flawless or immac garnets as drops sometimes when doing hi level delta though. It's just a lot rarer.

Before this thread turns into a mudslinging match between thumbs/tweakz and the rest of the world, bookmark astarelle's socket calc so you will have an estimate what more you will need and how much more you will spend on socketing and sharding.

@Vitenka thank for adding the Morai option regarding the stones, I'm going that path as well

Garnet for me. I like the eerie red glow they give off.
Do you hate me? Good, that makes for an adequate conversation starter.
