Whats a server shard?

Noob question, but wtf? Is Frankie out farming for server shards? If so, squad me! Imma kill some stuff too!

    Its Perfect shards that drop from world bosses

    in order to server to come up frankie need to kill all world bosses and get 7garnet 5citrine 12+ crono pages

    when he do that maint will finish and we can playb:victory

    I think each server as players use the terms is a shard. But I think PW has multiple shards running on servers to save money. Server can also mean a single machine. PW seems to have fewer machines than it has servers as players use the term. What we call servers are really shards sharing a server.

    Shards can be combined into farts. With a number of 666 shards you can make the Multiverse shattering-****.

    Shards are a database architecture, allowing for completely indepedent structures, isolating database rows. They do not have to exist physically in the same location, It's like logical partitioning. Performance is always a concern when it comes to databases, so sharding allows for less tables allowing for better performance.
