If I keep playing my 'sin long enough for it to matter, I'm planning on going sage and building for DPH not APS. Not sure yet if it'd be smarter to go for crit or attack levels or what.0 -

Not much APS. Nirvy the daggers and legs to fix that.
Maybe not enough DPH, even. Nirvy the legs and top for five attack levels; shard DoT.

If you have the money to go for Myriad Blossom Greaves and Barrier Thorn: Nirvana, you should rather get Rank 8 first. Rank 8 costs much less Myriad Blossom Greaves and offers double the -interval.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. I generally have this... thing against CSed rank 8. It's not entirely rational and reasonable, and you're 100% right about the costs, but I'm weird and I just don't like buying high-end gear from the boutique.
Plus I'm also weird in that I think a DPH 'sin sounds much more interesting and challenging than an APS one, and that sample build was meant more for cheap DPH than for interval; nirvying the armor would be not so much for the interval as for the attack levels. I probably shouldn't've advocated nirvying parts of that build using APS as a justification at all, given my own preferences, really.
Edit: that said, taking that sample build of mine and sticking a rank 8 top and weapon on it doesn't look half bad. 2200+ more damage, 3% more crits, and slightly better mag defenses --- not even counting the higher APS.0 -

You don't have to put your own real money in, but avoiding any interaction with cash shop items is next to impossible.
Use charms? How about tokens? Ever gone on a wined BH? The cash shop is part of the game, you can't ignore it, you can still be F2P and work with it tho.
Trying to avoid it will only result in you gimping yourself while trying to pursue an unacheivable goal. And a viable or desirable DPH sin is far far more expensive than a viable aps sin. Try finding a squad for anything touting yourself as a DPH sin with anything worse than r8 daggers, and let us know how that works out.
For that matter as a dph sin for anything outside of pvp.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Then I guess that means you will be sharding... beautiful Citrines? If you want DPH, then you just picked the worst possible weapon for that.
For DPH, there's much better alternatives, such as this or this or this or this.
Short of R9s, G15 Nirvana and G16 Nirvana, R8 has the best DPH in the game. True, but as underfunded as this guy appears to be, he might be able to squirt by as at least somewhat useful in bh squads as a r8 DPH.

No, I'm not that obsessive about it. I'm basically one of the old fogeys who QQd back when the first General Summer's sale made rank gear available for cash, and I've never got over it. If I was as totally opposed to any cash shop gear as y'all seem to be reading into my words, I'd not be able to be a merchant.
On the day they announced the first General Summer's sale, I was a puny little level 80 Assassin, farming away at Chief Assassins on Nightscream Island. That was the second time I thought of quitting the game. Reason being that I instantly figured that Rank 8 would become the new expected standard for PvE at 100+ and I thought I'd never be able to afford it.
