When did they change how many characters we can have?

I've been away for about 9 months. Before I left we could have up to 6 characters on a server. Maybe it was 8. Either way, I have come back, and decided to try the Heaven's Tear server.

I created 3 characters, and now wanted to try an Asassin. I got it all created, got a good name not taken...and it says 'Maximium number of players reached."

So, when did they start limiting a server to only 3 characters? Just wondering.

    Might be a dumb question, but any chance the message was "maximum number of characters reached" instead of players? As in, the name you were trying to use was too long?

    I've not heard anything about them lowering the limits on numbers of characters - I didn't have any problem recently creating an eighth character on this account.

    Nope. It said "players". Really confounds me. And just to be sure, I went and tried creating the sin again, and this time used only 5 letters to create a nonsense name, and if it took, would just delete it afterwards.

    But nope. Got the message again "Maximum numbers of players reached.' So ummmmm.....???

    That's very weird, cause it SHOULD be 8

    Though I once heard something about a limit to the total amount of toons on all servers, not sure anymore. Maybe that's it?

    That is possible I suppose, but it'd have to be a rather high number. I know of people with 20+ characters who still make new ones.

    I think there's a limit to the number of players per ACCOUNT that you can have. I have several on HT for my main acct, so it's not a limitation per server.

    **found it, 16 characters per account, per server 'cluster'. Which I'm assuming means west, east, or European. **
