Are Seekers DD or not.

Or are they just support classes due to have just 3 dmg amplifiers.

I had a small arguement with an idiot in Archer section , and i am clearly eager to know what actual seekers are , cause im fairly intrigued.

I made it public so please , actually give your reasons ( silly , formal , ponies , whatever)

Ponies, because the question is a false dichotomy. There's more to the game than just DD exclusive-or support.

Seekers can pull, tank, debuff, and do damage; that's not just support. Seekers can't keep aggro from APS types, so they're not single-role DD. Those two pigeonholes aren't sufficient to hold the class.

Seekers are DD's, debuffers, tanks and backup tanks pretty much.
It depends on the setup of the rest of your squad.
In caster nirvana, you're a debuffer.
In delta/fcc you're most of the time a tank.
In TT you can be.. anything depending on squad.

The fun thing about seekers imo is that you can have a lot of different roles, and have to adjust to your squad.

Also, someone who limits themselves to one role, while more are well possible is an idiot imo xD

My opinion abotu my main, i can do any role beside healer, simple as that. Like Hazumi said, depends what you are doing. If you are in Delta and not tanking, there a bit of a prob xD

Single option poles make seekers look bad.

Swords refine slightly worse than bows and our skills tend to be slightly under powered than an archer, if thats what we're comparing our basis for DD on. But Seekers hold some of the records for highest single dph in the game, and we can out dps an archer with a bow. We can't really out dps a 5.0 archer, but an archer can't really even keep up with a barb, bm, or sin at 5.0 either so are we considering a dd based on their aps?

Bottom line, seeker and archer are comparable to each other dps and dph wise, but I'd give the archer a slight edge on both dps (bow) and dps (fist) but equal dps if using a bow. Compare a seeker using his debuffs and then going for dpj and dps and they're very similar.

The difference is a seeker makes the entire squads dps higher, including his own and the archers, with the debuffs they contain. If you attribute all the added damage from debuffs to the seeker than he is way more a dd than an archer but its because of his support skills.

I just want to clarify that i believe that Seekers are a multi-role class , and i really like to have one in my squads when i play as a cleric - archer - veno. THey combine so many things , and lack of CC skills is of little matter when they have the ability to survive and AoE kill so much.

I just made this poll as small joke to some idiots who are butthurt about this class , possibly because they have failed with them. Again thanx again for your time to reply and vote

@Hazumi_chan : that was my exact reason for making this poll. i wanted to prove that considering a class only support (when they all can DD and Tank) is just idiotic.

@Rinin : I would vote for ponies too , but as i said , this game isn't cool enough for more ponies.

Like Hazu said, it's really up to squad so I don't see any need to put seeker in any specific role..

DDers, tankers, debuffers... the list goes on.

Althought I prefer to focus mainly on being a DDer and debuffing whenever the situation calls for it.

My seeker can tank, DD, solo, hold agro and most anything else I need to do. I pull as well as anybarb and kill better than most on large pulls. Yes...sometimes I get greedy but what the heck..I had fun doing it. The seeker is based on the personal preference of the player. I wanted a do it all seeker and I have one. I have seen a full R9 +12 seeker one shot by a boss I could pull, debuff and start vortex on.

seekers are one of the newer generation of mmo classes out there that are not limited to the oldschool 'single role class'. Most of any new classes out there are very fliexible and are not limited to a set role (ex. DD, support, tank) Just like how RL cultures/beliefs are diversifying. If pple cant understand that part, tell them to wake up and smell the coffee.

I'm curious as to why debuffing and DDing would be two different roles because unless DDing means vortex the only difference between a combined debuffing and DDing role is 5-10 seconds to proc the attack buff at the start and then proc the defense level buff every few hits. Doesn't really sound like two different roles to me. But if there is a funny joke in what you said then explain it I'm a good listener and would love to hear why you think I asked a stupid question.

Use Soul Sever Minuet and then Gemini slash when SSM procs, then use vortex, as an alternative.

The still useful -10 defense level lasts for 3 minutes. And I don't quite understand the relation of Atk lvl vs def level yet, but that -10 atk level may make help even more.

Some say there are many roles to seeker. But I bunch all of our tools up into one large role. If you want to be an effective seeker, you use your debuffs, then you dish out the damage. And there is alternatives to make things work out.

Yes i thought it was a stupid question but i replied to it that way cause i thought it was on purpose like those trolls out there.

To answer your question, tbh no i dont think its a separate role. But your wondering why they are called that. Its most likely because in caster or normal vana runs, seekers are expected to use their debuffs because it helps out alot. Reality is tho, that half the time if you dont remind these pple they will just go trigger happy vortex aoe fest, and by the time you remind them, their eyes will be long gone from the squad chat. You end up with a mediocre DD that thinks his vortex is all that. You want these guys to use their debuff, especially cause unless you got some good gears, the DD part can be substituted for alot higher dmg classes. Solution: Name them to be the 1% common sense skill their expected to dish out. Debuffer.
