Hello Im Tomski this is just a warning to all you young bucks about this highly addictive game, but I have to be honest though it was hands down way more addictive when it first started.
Anyway I used to play this game and finally one day I quit.
I played this game for a regrettable 2 years of my life which partly dictated my life and has partly ruined my real life social well being.
Those 2 years of my life I will never get back and what is it worth in the end.
I could of spent this time bettering my credentials, plus I was an extremely outgoing person before I got a new computer in march 2009 to run this game.
Anyway this was not a troll post, but I honestly hope I can help someone as wish I could of read this when I started on this game and on games in general.
And if you remember me from in game private message me on forums so we can facebook!

Been playing on and off for almost 4 years now, I've got a great partner, a car, an apartment, college experience, marketable skills, and I've been balancing sickness with my gaming.
I guess OP just fails at multitasking.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Are you serious?
He got a new computer in March of the year 2009 which allowed him to play this game good enough to have fun. His old one probably wasnt up to par.
You must be really dumb.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Who didn't already have a pc that could run this game? Are you kidding me? You may want to review the min specs again there genius.
Win XP
1 Gb CPU
1 Gb RAM
8 Gb HDD
GeForce 4 Ti4200 64MB or ATI Radeon 8500 64MB
Go back to VaginaWeaver and grow a brain please.0 -
Those are the MINIMUM standards to run this game. Find me a computer with those specs which can get 30+ FPS in TW
If you think people only need min specs to do things they want in this game (everyone is different) then it is you sir who needs to get a brain, and get the the moose antlers out of your ****. b:bye0 -

A lot of backlash coming in response of this thread, but most of it I believe is the result of a lack of understanding, particularly around the psychology of game design. There is a plethora of available research on the addictive nature of video games and the harm it can cause to individuals and to society in general. That is NOT to say that all games are innately harmful to all people, just that SOME have demonstrated to be so for SOME people, particularly when they incorporate proven patterns of addictive behaviour into their game design (like most free-to-play games).
Not everyone is susceptible to becoming addicted to a game like PWI but some are for a variety of reasons which usually involve a complex interaction of personal life issues, mental health issues, genetic composition, etc. Thus, while the original post may not apply to you personally, that does not make the cautionary tale invalid.
Some people might be tempted to just say, "get some will power." However, that is just an easy way of avoiding a complex issue. Will power undoubtedly plays a role but it is neither the beginning nor the end of the issue.
P.S. I am not taking any sides, I just felt it needed to be said.0 -

Find me a pc in 2009 that didn't meet those specs. Pretty sure everyone in 2009 had a pc that destroyed the requirements for this game. OP is trolling. Are you all that stupid? If he is not, he is a bigger idiot that most of the ppl on these boards.
@ Sasha - clearly I meant 1 Ghz - nice attempt and contribution though.0 -
I wasted more time on MapleStory.0

I'm not even paying attention to what the OP said. My point was that not all computers can handle this game past minimum standards. Best example: Me, I had a ****ty computer and laptop that could barely run this game and it was hard to have fun in TW with so much lag.
Just because someone can run the game doesn't mean they can do so with fun. Ignorance is bliss. b:bye
@Belkas - clearly you don't know what you're talking about - nice attempt and contribution though.0 -

Not true I actually met a friend through this game, and we do hang out quiet a bit outside the game. So we do play this game and we are friends. All generalizations are false, including this one.0 -

That goes for any thing from gaming addiction, to gambling, alcoholism, drug addiction, eating disorders, etc etc. The MAJORITY of people can do these things (drink, gamble, eat, etc.) without it ever having an effect on there lives in a negative way. BUT there are a few with addictive personalities that certain things will tend to get them into trouble.0 -
I would regret it too, 2 years and not even level 100, that shows something about you b:thanks b:chuckle
I played PWI from the first year, and honestly, my life gotten so much better b:chuckle OFC I dont play 24/7, but I do everyday. All A's, a job, recently engaged, and more[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
