LA Veno: Sage or Demon

Well, planning on making a LA veno, would like to hear some thoughts about culti/gear/shards.

Pelli - Dreamweaver

As a LA and LA/AA hybrid veno, having r6 robe and Sleeves of the Sea Captain for -chan, I went demon. However, many will tell you to go sage because of the bonus you can get from sage fox form.

The reasons I chose demon over sage was because of the skills effects. While the sage ironwood is nice, lengthening the duration to 20s, demon has 20% chance to drop pdef to zero. 20% in itself isn't all that bad because mathematically, you can proc the skill 1/5.

As for the other skills, such as amp, in now way demon amp is weaker than sage amp because the 6s added to the normal 20s make up for the 5% additional damage from the sage version. Demon fox wallop has, like ironwood, a 20% chance to inflict a debuff, which renders all hits critical for 5 seconds.

But, in the long run, you're the one to choose your path. Don't let the others choose your path for you. Venos celestial culti is sometimes hard to choose because of the balanced skills from both sides.

Desdi - Sanctuary

You should rather play the veno than worry about the cultivation now. Both paths are balanced and have their own pros and cons. Nobody can choose for you but yourself. Plus visit the Useful Venomancer Links sticky. Many Sage VS Demon topics are there.

As far as shards and gear are concerned, there are plenty of guides out there. Although I wouldn't really recommend LA but it's your choice. Shards? Just make sure you have a good balance of defences and HP. There's no guide for that. Just make sure you have 5k HP by level 100 the least.

Phoenix_Eye - Heavens Tear

Just follow the guides here. Remember no vit , all points to MAg and necessary for armor nothing more. Tomes and Capes with + STR/DEX are good.


Light armor isn't really the best path for a veno , but if it makes you happy , then go for it , who knows maybe you will manage to overcome its drawbacks just like other venos have done before.

Yeah, I rolled LA for a bunch of levels. It's expensive, gives the worst MDef/PDef combined of any armor type, and gives less HP than HA.

If you are willing to buy a restat note, it can be nice to get you through some of the harder levels, if you level by questing. I don't really see the use of it in FCC, you will most likely be taking more damage from magic in there.
