Doesn't this game get old???

So out of sheer boredom I decided to log into PW website after almost 1 year. I quit playing PWI in late 2010. Ever since then, as far as MMORPGs go, I played -removed for mentioning competing games-
Especially after -removed-, MMORPG gaming hasn't been the same to me. Those games were just too freaking great. -removed- is kind of meh, but it's free so why not...
-removed- were pretty good back in their day, but this is 2012 and these 2 games seem to have been stuck in the past. Although they're good games, there's nothing spectacular about them to make them timeless classics like, say, -removed- or -removed-.
Which brings me to PWI. It features outdated graphics, outdated gameplay, pay-2-win mechanics (it wasn't like that when I started playing in 2008), no camaraderie among players (again, not like that when I started).
So, what on earth keeps you playing PWI? Is it the bling epic gear? My barb was level 92 when I quit, but I had no problem leaving it behind for greener pastures.
I don't miss PWI at all, but it baffles me that people are still playing this when there are clearly better alternatives out there.

Too much time and effort invested to simply quit + friends you make over time, and I`m sure I`m speaking for many, but time will come for every1 when they are ready to give it up in favour of smth else.[SIGPIC]http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/image.php?type=sigpic&userid=14516063001&dateline=1364756666[/SIGPIC] Ty Silvy0 -
I gave up on almost all games. It's just meh to me now.WTB PWI 2008 where people were thinking more about doing good rather than pretending to be.0

I chose this game over customisation, good graphics, and an overall good playerbase(just a lot of QQers on the forum imo). Plus, I'm pretty well known to a lot of people on my server. Its a nice place to meet other players, and the scenery makes great machinima. I dont really care about the cash shop or economy stuff, I prefer to ignore it and grind. Thats why I'm staying[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]<3 by Silvy

Answering your title thread, no, it hasn't get old yet, the moment it did I just quit.
If those games are so great why don't go back and play instead of posting here?
All those quitters that keeps commenting how bad pwi is, is what got old, really. b:bye0 -
Yes, the game is old, outdated, and boring as Hell.0

Too many friends still playing to leave. Since I play MMOs to hang with nice people more than to look at the prettiest graphics, I'll stay a while longer. Some people don't have the desire (or money for a new computer) to switch to a shinier game.
There's really only one game coming in the near future that I am interested in. For the most part all new MMOs follow the same gear-treadmill-themepark format. The different graphics aren't enough of a draw for me to jump from one steep uphill climb to the bottom rung of another.
Even when the game I'm waiting for is released I'll probably keep playing PWI, at least for TW and faction base trials; but I've long ago stopped giving them any money and I'm not climbing the gear ladder anymore either, it's just gotten too steep.See, I can hyper a nub up like the rest of yas!0 -

What baffles me is how so many people who quit are so narcissistic to believe that their opinion on what is fun is fact. And it baffles them that anyone could have fun playing a game that they personally don't have fun playing. I play because it's fun, the same reason I play any other game. If it stopped being fun for me, I would stop playing it. It's really that simple. b:scorn[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

When you get down to it, the game is simply good fun.
I quit for almost a year myself, while I went off to play the largest P2P MMO, and I hated it. Full confusing mechanics, a horribly rude and elitist playbase, dull and bland gameplay from over-balancing, unbelievably bad graphics and a system that makes everything you farm complete junk within a few months.
PW is just enjoyable. I've met tons of relaxed, helpful and friendly people here. If you think we have a lot of "noobs" or elitists, other games have it FAR worse. Some of the nicest people I know on any game are here. And the gameplay isn't bad PvE wise. I'll openly admit, I actually like getting crazy gear and making silly huge numbers. Who doesn't love going crazy with HF, EP and Amp up? And importantly, it's a game I can pick up for an hour or two a day, and leave for a break when I wish, instead of having to dedicate my life to it.
People expect too much out of games nowadays and spoil the enjoyment of all the little things for themselves more than anyone.0 -
only reason i still em here is because of my awsome faction all my other friends left long ago but my faction is still chugging away as long as it keeps going i will keep coming on to support, help, and create a fun atmosphere for my fellow faction mates no matter how bored or painful it can be.b:surrenderCollector of pet eggs, armor, weapons, fashion, and mountsb:chuckle0

my in game fiance plays the game, I've friends here, my rl father brought me to the game, and it is fun to me. that being said, if it's not fun to you, don't play it. if it is, then go for it.
how it can be baffling to you that people still play when everyone is different and everyone has differing opinion of what's fun is what I don't know.0 -

You don't miss PWI at all? Why did you come here then?
It baffles you that people still play this game? It's none of your concern what people choose to play.
There are better alternatives out there? That's a matter of opinion and preference.
That being said. I don't consider PWI as the "omg best MMO in the world!!" but like everyone else, I have my own reasons to stick around here even after 4 years. Friends is what makes an MMO fun for me. Nothing else.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

I agree with Desdi. Sure, there are quite a lot of "better" mmo's out there. In terms of balance, in terms of gameplay, in terms of graphics.
Sure, if you want to "win" in terms of pvp and such here, get ready for spending a lot of money or time. However having fun is more important for me.
I'm also looking forward to playing another certain mmo coming out. (friends pointed me towards it and got me enthousiastic for it)
I might quit pwi, or log in less. But as long as I still have fun in this game, why actively look for a different game, where I have to start all over again without even having friends around?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

The game might be considered dead if we ever got a period of 30 minutes or more of zero world chats.
Or if there were hardly any calls for BH100 on every single day.
Or if during 2x drops WC wasn't overloaded with calls for caster Nirvana and high APS nirvana.
Or FCC sellers weren't on WC all day long.
Or if there were very few factions recruiting on WC on any given day.
Just because lots of people on your friends list aren't online every day now or have even quit, or because your faction has become more inactive than it was two years ago doesn't somehow mean the game is dead.
And the game sure as hell isn't dead just because they released D3 or are going to release some other games.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.

yeah the game gets boring..why not quit?..well because for the fact the next game will get boring as well unless its a FPS game and your playing in competition on a gaming ladder rung site with your team. This game is like washing hair with shampoo... Rinse and repeat if desired.

... And since selling FCC is still a very active thing to do, I would say we do have active players.
The reason the game is kinda crooked is quite heavily due to the player base. People want to get to 100, so they buy FCCs. People who got to 100 need money, so they sell FCCs. It's a cycle that's not going to end.
Also an interesting phenomena was that during 2x drops, you could actually see people asking for others to sell them FCC so that they could level up.
Since there is an option to pay to get to endgame, plus with the cash shop being a major part of the game, obviously low and mid levels are going to be emptier and emptier as the game gets older, as more and more people get to endgame and stick around. Any game that has been around for a while will always have more people at endgame than mid or low.You ever tried getting anywhere without FC? You'd be surprised.
My sin was in his high 80s before I went into FCC. And if Core Connect is accurate, my sin was lvl 90 two days after the release of Genesis. Genesis was when people started selling FCC to make money.
On the other hand, my Archer got to 92 without ever going into FCC.I am Olba. Not Ol, not Baze nor Blaze. And even less would I go by Olblaze. Please, take a second to read a person's username.

hmmm a small wall of text. Yeah the game is old and gets boring. but so do the other games you mentioned get boring. I use to play pretty excessively, but now I play 1-3 hours a day.
After all this is a game, a role-playing game.
Aren't role-playing games suppose to have a little acting/role-playing, not just within the game itself, but from you too? b:laugh
(sighs) this game can get taken too seriously and so can those others you tried to mention. b:bye
@those who recently posted, I agree That those "QQ this game is dying" threads are getting tiresome.
All I can say is to have fun, try out some acting/role-playing in game, it'll be fun and makes game play a tad less boring. (did so with 4 friends and my wife in a FB instance and we had a laughing blast, because our acting was so silly with lol). b:pleased
Note to all: join date is my first post, I actually started playing in 2010, if you look at my core profile.0 -
I average about 1 hour a day if I log on, usually for Nirvana keys, any events I might do, BH, and opening my Fairy Boxes.

Which is why the game is close to dead for levels under 95. 95% of people do not play this game anymore, they don't even like working together, it is just buy FC and that's it. That's what private servers are for if people want to skip levels and just get endgame levels and equipment. It is even more pathetic on a PVE server. People here have become very spoiled and too dependent now.0
